Shelter

The Wallich

The Wallich is a homelessness charity and has been working with homeless and vulnerable people for over 30 years. They work to find lasting solutions to homelessness and prevent its occurrence by working with those who are in danger of becoming homeless. Crisis

Crisis is a national charity for single homeless people. They are dedicated to ending homelessness by delivering life-changing services and campaigning for change. Contact Crisis by phone on 0300 636 1967 or visit their site.

The National Debtline

The National Debtline is a national telephone helpline offering free, confidential and independent advice for people with debt problems.

Advice is backed up with written self-help materials which can be sent out for free or downloaded from their site or contact them by phone on 0808 808 4000, Monday to Friday between 9am and 9pm and on Saturdays between 9.30am and 1pm. There is a 24 hour voicemail to request an information pack or factsheet.

My Money Steps (also run by National Debtline), is a free online debt advice service, which provides a personalised action plan for dealing with your debts.

StepChange Debt Charity

StepChange Debt Charity helps people in financial difficulty by providing free, confidential, independent and realistic debt advice. The StepChange Debt Charity free phone helpline 0800 138 1111 is open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays. Its free online counselling, StepChange Debt Charity Debt Remedy, is available anytime.

Get Connected

Get Connected is a free, confidential helpline for young people who need help but don't know where to find it. You can contact them by phone, email and webchat. Call the helpline on 0808 808 4994 or log on to their site.

Samaritans

Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide. Contact the Samaritans by phone on 08457 90 90 90, 24 hours a day, or log onto their site.
