Filming in Bandhavgarh
During the making of Dynasties: Tiger, in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, India, the crew predominantly filmed from vehicles but were also granted access to the Forest Department’s domestic elephants to film in some of the more inaccessible locations. The Forest Department do not allow access to these areas by vehicle or any other means.

The elephants at Bandhavgarh are cared for by their handlers, called mahouts. The elephants and mahouts helped the crew track the tigers and also deploy remote cameras.
In Bandhavgarh, the elephants and their mahouts play a vital conservation role, undertaking anti-poaching patrols, tiger monitoring and resolving human-animal conflict, as seen in the programme. Typically, the elephants patrol for approximately 3 hours per morning after which they are free to roam the jungle and forage on natural food. Most of the elephants at Bandhavgarh were born there and live their whole lives in the Reserve. They also have regular interactions with one another including their own family members. Each elephant is individually cared for by its mahout and has access to regular veterinary care.
