4/5. Donald Macleod explains how d'Indy's music school, the Schola Cantorum, nearly went bust, but stayed afloat thanks to his titanic efforts. Personal tragedy struck when his wife Isabelle died from a brain haemorrhage – his orchestral work Souvenirs became a moving tribute to her.
