2011: Ellie pushes Frank for an answer to her request for IVF money, and doesn't like what she hears from her dad, who tells her to slow down. Believing her baby dream is over, Ellie gives up on it once and for all.

Frank's pain worsens, and he calls David for stronger painkillers. David tells him that he needs a lot more than pain relief. David then plummets further down in Frank's estimation as he tells Frank the truth about Joy's visa.

Taking matters into his own hands, Nick goes behind Poppy's back and tells Michael to stay away from her. His day goes from bad to worse when Lynne, worried about Nick's lunge at her, tells him he needs to find another sponsor. Then Poppy, after finding out about her dad's ill-advised words of warning to Michael, runs away from home.

1931: Furious with Walter for leaving him in the lurch, Billy tries to hunt him down - but Walter is proving a good hider and manages to avoid his hunter. His luck doesn't hold out, however, and Billy finally manages to track Walter down, making him promise him the house to pay off his mounting debts. Finally showing some backbone, Walter snaps, killing Billy and hiding his body in the coal cellar. Drunk, he panics about how he's going to keep it a secret.

Meanwhile, Nora hero-worships Sid for saving her life, and she's not the only one who thinks Sid is a bit special, with Gracie taking their relationship to the next level as the couple succumb to their mutual love. Sid reveals his true name, Frank, and asks Gracie and the kids to come to America with him. Gracie says yes.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth and Gracie reconcile, and Elizabeth comes up with a plan to help pregnant Violet; and there is sad news for Sid as he hears that Patrick has been murdered by someone from their past.
