Jill Douglas presents coverage of the UCI Road World Championships in Denmark, where Great Britain's Mark Cavendish will begin amongst the favourites for the road race title. This summer Cavendish became the first Briton to claim the green jersey at the Tour de France. If he wins in Denmark he will be the first male British rider to win the event since Tom Simpson in 1965.

In the women's race, Britain's Nicole Cooke will be hoping to regain the title she won in 2008. Cooke, a gold medallist at the Beijing Olympics, will be joined by British team-mates Emma Pooley and Lizzie Armitstead.

Commentary comes from Hugh Porter and Chris Boardman.
