Bill Paterson narrates a programme about Johnny Beattie who is celebrating sixty years in show business. With performances recorded at a special gala at the Glasgow Citizens Theatre, contributions from friends, family and people he has worked with over the years and including Johnny himself in conversation with daughter Maureen, the programme takes in his early days in comedy in variety shows right up to his present soap star status as Malcolm Hamilton in River City. Alan Cumming, Una McLean, Peter Morrison, The Alexander Brothers and Susan Calman are among those paying tribute to one of Scotland's best-loved entertainers.
