Ag obair ‘sa fuireach ann am baile mòr, feumar rud math air faire son do chumail a’ dol tron t-seachdain. Tha Ramsay MacMahon làn chinnteach gun e teiche son là no dha cur thairis le curseachad a tha dhìth. Agus abair gu bheil fhios aigesan dè na cuairtean deireadh-sheachdain is fheàrr: an-diugh tha e a’ dèanamh air Toirbheartan air taobh siar Rois. Ann an sgìre air a bheil luchd-dìreadh nam beann cho measail, tha e a’ streap nan ulbhagan mòra clach-gainmhich anns a’ ghleann.

Agus tha cuairt baidhseagal agus coiseachd nan cnoc fa-near dha – an toiseach suas nan rothaidean casa gu caladh bhrèagha Dhìobaig, agus a’ coiseachd an uairsin gu bothan beinne iomallach na Creige. As dèidh cadal suain – mas fhìor – gun mòran eadar e is cruas an làir, tha e a’ coiseachd nas fhaide tuath, gu tràigh an Rubha Dearg ann an Geàrrloch.

Working and living in the city, you need something to keep you going through the week. Ramsay MacMahon is a firm believer that escaping for an action-packed weekend is the only solution.

In his guide to the ultimate weekend away, Ramsay travels to Torridon in Wester Ross. A mecca for climbers, Ramsay tries his hand at bouldering on the immaculate Torridonian sandstone boulders that line Glen Torridon.

This weekend, though, Ramsay has set himself a cycling and hiking challenge. From Torridon village he cycles up some of the steepest roads to the beautiful harbour of Diabeg. From there he sets off on foot to his night’s accommodation in the remote Craig bothy. Refreshed – or not – after a night on a camping mat on the floor in the bothy Ramsay completes his challenge by hiking further north to the striking red sandy beach of Redpoint in Gairloch.
