Shared Vision

Red Sz茅ll suffers from retinitis pigmentosa and is now blind. In this inspirational journey, Red climbs the remote, iconic sea stack Am Buachaille at Sandwood Bay, north west Scotland.

Red Sz茅ll was born a sighted child but, in his early twenties, doctors served the diagnosis like a death sentence - Red was suffering from the degenerative eye disease retinitis pigmentosa and would slowly lose his sight. The vision he is now left with is like peering through a dimly lit room filled with thick smoke, coupled to stroboscopic flashes, meaning he is essentially now blind. However, hehas always had an adventurous streak, and in this inspirational journey we see Red travel to the wild and remote north west corner of Scotland.

Inspired by Tom Patey, Rustie Baillie and Chris Bonington - some of the best climbers of a generation - he enjoys the camaraderie of his friends Nick Carter and Matthew Wootliff in a climbing adventure that will last long in his memory as he climbs the remote, iconic sea stack Am Buachaille at Sandwood Bay, north west Scotland.
