Ep 8 - A Playlist Dedicated To My Friend Joe: My Parents Are Coppers

Jamie T presents a playlist of tunes dedicated to his oldest friend Joe, based on an old mixtape called My Parents Are Coppers, which Jamie made for Joe back in the 00s.

Jamie T continues his takeover as 6 Music's Artist In Residence with a playlist dedicated to one of his oldest friends, Joe, who Jamie describes as his "muse". Joe would often drive Jamie to his early gigs in south-west London and the two would listen to mixtapes in the car so this show is based on a tape Jamie made for Joe which was called My Parents Are Coppers.

There's music from Beastie Boys, Billy Bragg, Transplants, Patti Smith and much more. Between tracks there's a chat with Joe himself, with the two of them reminiscing about having pickled onions thrown at their car; plus Jamie remembers seeing Joe Strummer playing live, how he purloined a Beastie Boys poster from a record label and supporting his favourites Rancid at The Astoria in London.

Presenting his first ever radio shows for this series on 主播大秀 Radio 6 Music, Jamie began his career playing his acoustic bass guitar around Wimbledon in the 2000s. He released his first album, Panic Prevention, in 2007, and quickly gained widespread popularity and acclaim thanks to tracks like If You've Got The Money, Sheila and Calm Down Dearest. In 2022 he released his fifth record, The Theory Of Whatever, and it proved his longevity by the record becoming his first to top the UK Albums Chart. He also headlined Glastonbury's John Peel Stage in June and went on the road in November for an 11-date sold out UK tour.
