Marine Litter Artefacts, the Peffery Way and a Guide Dog called Striker

Mark Stephen and Rachel Stewart with stories from the great outdoors.

Mark is struck with the harsh reality of nature, as he visits Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, where two newly translocated beaver kits have been predated upon by a hungry otter. He chats with the RSPB’s Paula Baker, about the circle of life.

A community group has secured a Path Order to create a new route joining Dingwall and Strathpeffer. Rachel joins Miles Davis from the Peffery Way Association to find out what this connection will bring to the communities.

Huw Williams from Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio Orkney oversees a beach clean on Scapa Beach, where participants distinguish potential future artefacts from the marine litter they’ve gathered. He chats with Glasgow Universities’ Anna Wilson, who runs the Future Archaeologies from Marine Litter Project.

Mark attends Community Land Scotland’s 5th Annual ‘Urban Land Gathering’ in Stirling where he met a whole host of likeminded champions of community life, including Development Officer Lindsay Chalmers.

We chat with Jim Robertson, Chairman of British Wool, about the value of this fantastic natural fibre.

Producer Phil Simes is encountering the world with a new pair of eyes, as a suitable companion is found for him in the form of Striker, the Guide Dog. We hear from an ecstatic Phil, and Guide Dog Mobility Specialist Laura Davidson about this life changing development.

Plus, we have a mystery sound for you! What could it be this week?
