This week, Out of Doors is out and about at the Braemar Mountain Festival, broadcasting live with the fire pit, from the very heart of the town.

Sarah Hubbard from the Braemar Mountain Festival committee joins us for a chat about the ins and outs of the festival.

Mark joins Drennan Watson and the Cairngorm Club鈥檚 Ken Thomson and Judy Middleton for a walk through Glen Ey, and they share some of the secrets of the Glen.

Rachel is up at Glenshee, learning how to fall with grace, and other crucial winter skills with mountain leader Emma O鈥橲hea.

Also at Glenshee, running full pelt through an icy bog, is Maud Start, with Encarna Maturana, organiser of the evening snow race.

Mark's been learning about the mysterious Great North Railway line Station with John MacPherson. It is thought that there has never been a railway track in Braemar- but this is not technically correct, as John MacPherson has a miniature track in the garden! It's all aboard for the team, until things go horribly wrong.

Mark chats with Invercauld鈥檚 Estate Manager Angus McNichol, who shares some of the conservation efforts they have been getting their teeth into.

Andrew Painting sits in on the show, and shares some insights about how he hopes that biodiversity at the Mar Lodge Estate will be futureproofed through the changing climate.

And things heat up, as Mark and Rachel join a torchlit procession to mark the start of the festival.
