Ramsay MacMahon is ever in search of unforgettable weekends full of adventure and fun, and for him the possibilities are endless in Scotland.

Escaping to the Small Isles for the weekend, Ramsay sails to the Isle of Eigg. Now in its 25th year of community ownership Ramsay finds out how this has shaped the island. He learns about the island’s community-owned electricity supply and takes advantage of it using an electric bike to get around.

J.R.R. Tolkien once stayed on this island, so Ramsay passes by the house he stayed in. Nearby lies Camas Sgiotaig, or Singing Sands Beach. Akin to a Tolkien story, the sand is said to make strange squeaking noises underfoot.

Hiking up Eigg’s iconic an Sgùrr is a must do and Ramsay summits this striking volcanic ridge for views across the archipelago and to Skye.

Tha an sluagh a-nis a’ cruthachadh an dealain aca fhèin agus tha Ramsay a’ gabhail brath air, a’ falbh mu chuairt air baidhsagal dealain.

Gabhaidh e seachad air an taigh san do dh’ fhuirich J.R.R. Tolkien. Faisg air làimh, tha Camas Sgiotaig. Coltach ri sgeulachd a dh’ innseadh Tolkien, tha a’ ghainmheach a’ dèanamh fuaim rudeigin annasach sgiamhach nuair a choisichear oirre.
