Prisoners Abroad
is a human rights and welfare charity providing humanitarian aid, advice and emotional support to British citizens affected by overseas imprisonment. We assist people during their incarceration, when they return to the UK and need access to resettlement services, and we support their families too.聽
Meet Sean
Picture is of an actor. Sean, not his real name, was in prison in the Caribbean.聽 He received grants from Prisoners Abroad to buy clean water, food and medicine. He has now returned to the UK, has reconnected with his family and is building a stable future for himself.
Supporting prisoners and their families
An overseas prison sentence is often served by the family too.聽 They fear for their relative and face stigma from society. Our casework team are at the end of the phone to offer advice, a listening ear, help with prison visits, and liaise with embassies.
Returning to the UK after prison
鈥淵ou鈥檝e no idea the gratitude I feel for the help I received. I arrived in winter without a penny, Prisoners Abroad supported me and gave me a new chance at life.鈥�
