One baby every five days is born with , a genetic neuromuscular condition that causes progressive muscle wasting and loss of movement, according to the charity.
SMA UK supports families and individuals living with SMA offering much needed support, advice and information.
The Power of Community
Maxwell, 19, has SMA Type 2.聽 His parents were told he wouldn鈥檛 live past childhood.聽He鈥檚 a moderator for SMA UK鈥檚 Young Adults Group. 鈥淚 believe in the power of community and the importance of sharing valuable information鈥�, he says.
New powerchair for Amy
Amy has SMA Type 2. As she grew older her needs changed and she desperately needed a new powerchair that would give her comfort and independence. SMA UK supported her in getting one funded.
Community Events
It鈥檚 important for the SMA Community to come together to share experiences and ideas, and meet others who are living with a rare condition.聽 That鈥檚 why SMA UK hosts regular events across the UK so this can happen.
