On Call Africa

On Call Africa improves health outcomes for rural communities in Zambia by increasing access to quality healthcare. It trains healthcare workers, upgrade clinics and provides access to water and toilets, and influences national health policy.聽

When Esther was pregnant, she walked 21 miles to reach Kanyanga clinic, so she could have a nurse at her birth.聽 But there was no water or power. Since then, On Call Africa has improved the clinic, and more women are choosing to give birth there.聽聽

Since Esther gave birth, On Call Africa has powered the clinic using solar energy, so there鈥檚 lighting and improved medical equipment, and a brick shelter has been built with proper beds.聽 It will soon have clean running water.聽
