Celebrating Black Sisterhood Through Art

In her Edinburgh Art Festival exhibition What a Feeling, artist Christian Noelle Charles transforms the gallery space into a beauty salon of screen prints, video and performance.

New York-born artist Christian Noelle Charles - aka CC - came to Glasgow for her masters, and seven years later has adopted Scotland as her home. What a Feeling! Part 1 marks the end of her year-long residency at Edinburgh Printmakers with a series of unique, screen-printed portraits of the fellow black, female artist friends she has made in Scotland.

CC takes The Culture Scene into the screenprinting studio to show us the multilayered stages of her artistic process, reveals her own self-care rituals at the mirror, and meets artist friend Sekai Machache in the beauty salon she has created in the gallery space for her Edinburgh Art Festival show.
