Puppet Performance Challenges the Stigma of Drug Addiction in Scotland
Concerned Others is an intimate tabletop performance that looks at the issue of the high number of drug deaths in Scotland.
From award- winning puppet theatre company Tortoise in a Nutshell, Concerned Others explores issues surrounding substance dependence. This film finds out how and why director Alex Bird is trying to give a voice to those who are normally underheard, with accounts from people who have lived experience of addictions and those who care for them.
Concerned Others lays bare the harm being wrought not just by substances, but also the shame, ignorance and misunderstanding surrounding substance dependence and drug-related death.
