Venezuela and the UAE

In Venezuela, James Menendez asks why the protests are still rumbling on, and Shahidha Bari discovers how the Bedouin lifestyle is charging into the 21st Century.

Anti-government protests have rumbled on in Venezuela since February, marking a new low for Nicolas Maduro, who has struggled as president since succeeding iconic Hugo Chavez almost a year ago. As Will Grant discovers, the country's economic woes are gradually drawing more and more moderate Venezuelans into the fray. What are the chances of a return to normality any time soon?

In Abu Dhabi, Shahidha Bari attends a poetry festival in the middle of the desert and discovers Bedouin life brought bang up to date. But as the Emirate's wealthy rulers introduce high-speed wi-fi and other mod cons into the dunes, is the region's traditional, nomadic lifestyle under threat?
