Brazilian Squatters and a Burmese Village
The residents of Sao Paulo fighting to find adequate places to live. Plus, the remote Burmese village still recovering six years after Cyclone Nargis.
Katy Watson was surprised to find places called Gaza Strip and New Palestine in her new home city in Brazil. These new Sao Paulo neighbourhoods are being occupied by squatters 鈥� the Brazilian poor who struggle to find adequate housing while the city鈥檚 richer residents revel in the country鈥檚 booming economy. Katy Watson meets some of the activists behind the city鈥檚 squatting movement.
And, Robin Lustig thought he was fully prepared to visit a remote village in Burma still recovering six years after it was hit by Cyclone Nargis. But he didn鈥檛 expect to find green painted fingernails and frankfurter sausages.
