On tour

A Ledbury band have just come back from their latest tour...of France!

The Roving Crows, who organise Lakefest, played a week of shows in Normandy - including a gig for the French Navy!

The group has been a firm fixture on the local music scene after moving to Colwall from Gloucestershire. But it all began for main songwriter Paul O'Neill in Kildare, Ireland, before attending a performing arts college in New York City.

The band played their first-ever festival, courtesy of us, and now run their own! They're the people behind Lakefest and, wanting to return the favour, they gave us our very own 主播大秀 Music tent.

Early support from Introducing included playing support to Jamie Cullum at Colston Hall in Bristol and regular features as Track of the Week. They're now full time musicians and tour the continent with their Irish upbeat sounds.

Nativity Rocks

A 10 year old Worcester schoolgirl is starring in a new Christmas film alongside Craig Revel Horwood and Hugh Dennis.

Angelina Martin - whose last role was playing Bohemian Rhapsody on piano in a John Lewis advert - gives her reaction to the world premiere of Nativity Rocks.

Artist of the Week

We hear from Malvern's Matt Woosey - who's back in town to play a variety of shows.

  • He once took on the challenge of 100 gigs in 100 days and ended up getting so many repeat bookings it resulted in 150 gigs in 150 days (sometimes playing several times in the same day!)
  • Lived all over, including in a van while gigging
  • Used to be in rock bands - like Malvern group Taxi
  • Now famous for blues music, so much so, local band Rhondda wrote a song called 'Woosey' with the lyrics "if you're feeling bluesy, let's all go out and watch Matt Woosey!"
  • Has 8 studio albums - and is one of the most prolific songwriters in our area
  • Regularly gigs in people's front rooms - or huge theatre shows!
  • Now lives in Germany with his family.

Music therapy

In 2016, she was involved in a car crash which killed her mother and left her with serious injuries.

Two years on from that life changing day, a 10-year-old Herefordshire girl and her dad are looking back on how music made their journey to recovery that much easier.

Tony Bamber, and his daughter Jasmine, say music therapy has played a big part in their recovery; helping Jasmine regain her speech while giving her a welcome break from the hard physical rehabilitation she was going through.听Together, they've even written a song about their experience.

The live music advent calendar

Throughout the whole of December, we're dedicating the second hour of our shows to live music.

We won't be playing a single CD, MP3, tape or vinyl - because we're giving you the music you won't be able to get anywhere else on the planet!

This week, hear tracks performed in our Hylton Road studios, the , in Bewdley, , 听and .

In session

Alex Lleo has one of those soulful, resonant, one-of-a-kind voices you'll want to listen to again and again, evoking beach fires at dusk and hazy summer evenings.

With influences ranging from Neil Young, Ben Howard, Bon Iver, ELO and Bombay Bicycle Club, this Bromsgrove musician has toured America and has, on many occasions, played in ski resorts all over Europe.

As well as performing at pubs, clubs and festivals, Alex regularly busks across the Midlands - with music being his full time career.

鈥淏eautifully mesmerising. A true talent and an incredible songwriter" - Andrew Marston.

Switching on Worcester's Christmas Lights

Our sessions, this month, come from the Worcester Christmas Lights switch-on ceremony.

Not only was this a fantastic opportunity for the musicians we selected (who didn鈥檛 even know they were being considered for this incredible gig), but also a chance for thousands of people to see the amazing talent we have right here on our doorstep.

As always, we also hope this will also inspire other musicians to share their music with us.

The event, this year, moved from the Guildhall to the newly-revamped Cathedral Square under the statue of Sir Edward Elgar.

  • : What's on as advent begins!
  • In the news: Top award for local musician who's been working with Nile Rodgers at Abbey Road studios.

主播大秀 Music Introducing in Kidderminster

Our next recording session will take place on Sunday, 27 January at Kidderminster College.

The venue, which has made a name for itself as being the national HQ of the government-funded MAS Records scheme, is supported by Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs) and Karl Hyde (Underworld).

We'll be bringing along handpicked musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire to record their live sessions for broadcast.

They've all uploaded their tracks to the听主播大秀 Music Introducing Uploader听- but didn't know they were being considered for this incredible opportunity!

This free event, which is open to everybody, kicks off at 1pm and you're more than welcome to turn up anytime until 5pm.
