In session

This week's live session comes from a Worcestershire band that has been together since the 鈥70s and still making music to this day.

Quill, whose members have worked with bands such as ELO, The Move and Black Sabbath, regularly tour with Jasper Carrott.

But four years ago, their bassist - who was married to the lead singer - died of a heart attack, leaving the future of the band in question.

After an emotional couple of years, the group decided to complete some of Ben Brain's unfinished tracks - creating a whole new album of original songs along with artwork that he'd painted in his spare time.

His wife, Joy, has subsequently become a full time songwriter.

鈥淎 stunningly flawless live show filled with energy, incredible musicianship and a pedigree as long as your arm!鈥 - Andrew Marston.

Paradiddles

We鈥檙e celebrating the sixth year of the national Independent Venue Week, with two of the key venues in Worcester.

On Wednesday, the spotlight was very much on the city鈥檚 Marr鈥檚 Bar with Paradiddles carrying the torch for the rest of the celebrations.

In the spotlight: Worcester Music Festival

The Worcester Music Festival was first staged in 2008 by Chris Bennion, who produces Worcestershire Sauce, with the aim to put Worcester on the musical map.

Taking place in multiple venues across the city, from pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes to historic buildings, river cruisers, record shops, on the streets and even in breweries, the festival is absolutely free to attend with hundreds of gigs to choose from from some of the best, new and emerging artists in the UK.

Each year the festival raises money for a chosen local charity. Last year, the Worcestershire Association of Carers received all the money dropped into buckets at the festival's venues across the weekend.

Features

主播大秀 Music Introducing in Kidderminster

This month's sessions were recorded at one of the main musical hubs in Herefordshire & Worcestershire.

Kidderminster College, which was also the springboard of the highly successful MAS Records, has been offering students an insight into the music industry in their performance, production and technology courses.

Alumni include Quantic, Funkagenda and The Twang.

Focus on: S艙ur

What an incredible time it鈥檚 been for supergroup S艙ur, who also featured in our success stories of 2018.

The band, fronted by Worcester鈥檚 Tina V and Droitwich鈥檚 Anya Pulver, are now regulars on 主播大秀 Radio 1, 主播大秀 6 Music and across commercial radio.

They played on our stage at the Wychwood and Reading Festivals, did a session at Maida Vale and took 主播大秀 Music Introducing LIVE at Tobacco Dock by storm.

Musicians' Masterclass

Your money or your rights? This week, we're looking at publishing deals - and the way to split money in a band. After all, it is one of the biggest things that has split up many of your favourite groups.

In tonight's masterclass, we hear from producer, composer & 1xtra "resident" Moses Boyd, Harriet Moss who maximises opportunities for new talent, plus singer/songwriter and 6 Music presenter Tom Robinson.

主播大秀 Music Introducing in Ledbury

Our next recording session will take place on Sunday, 24 February at The Market Theatre in Ledbury.

The venue now holds the baton after a long history of performances in the town 鈥 dating back as far as the 19th century.

We'll be bringing along handpicked musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire to record their live sessions for broadcast.

They've all uploaded their tracks to the 主播大秀 Music Introducing Uploader - but didn't know they were being considered for this incredible opportunity!

This free event, which is open to everybody, kicks off at 6pm and you're more than welcome to turn up anytime until 10.30pm.
