In session

This week's live session comes from a Malvern musician, who says his influences combine The Cure, Beethoven, Dr Dre and Joy Division!

Daniel J Smith records reflective lyrics and makes mysticism a central part of his work - all under the guise of T.O.L.D.

Recently, he's been writing and recording in LA - where most of his live band is based.

鈥淎 great live performance and a masterclass in production鈥 - Andrew Marston.

TV Themes

Every month, here on this show, we hear from one of Britain鈥檚 most successful musicians, Paul Farrer.

Now, while you wouldn't recognise his name, Paul's music is played all over the world every single day.

Having written the theme to the Weakest Link and Dancing On Ice, Paul is also the musical director to Michael McIntyre's Unexpected Star and The Chase.

He writes most of these themes from home, but has also made songs on a beach, on trains and in cars - which he then sends to international orchestras to record!

This week, we look at his role on Michael McIntyre's Big Show.

We are sailing

This week, it's the final part of our series with the Herefordshire duo Mice in a Matchbox, who've spent the last few years floating across the globe, dropping anchor and playing shows wherever the wind takes them!

Singer/songwriter Sally Stamford, from Kington, and guitarist/vocalist Jim Rolt, from Bromyard, have been recording us an audio diary about their adventures on board their boat Chaos.

In this episode, we hear of their trip to Bequia, sailing between Martinique and Saint Lucia, before heading for the airport in Grenada having put the boat in storage.

主播大秀 Music Introducing in Droitwich

This month's live sessions come from the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich.听

The 176-seat venue, which is run by local volunteers, hosts a variety of events from plays, cinema screenings and live streaming from the West End.

The venue is situated inside Norbury House, an Art Deco building which started life as a luxury hotel - although it's role of putting up guests overnight was reasonably short-lived, having been used as a military hospital in WWII.

The Norbury Theatre came into being in 1962 for the sole purpose for local amateur societies having a venue to perform at.

Nowadays, they share Norbury House with 96 flats. The theatre takes up the largest area of the building, including dressing rooms on the first floor, extensive properties storage in the cellars and scenery in the old kitchens! Not forgetting, of course, the auditorium, foyer and stage!

Musicians' Masterclass

In tonight's masterclass, we ask whether it's beneficial to have a musical education.

Our panel, this week, have had mixed experience with this. Emma Smith is one of the presenters of 主播大秀 Radio 3's Jazz Now. But, as well as that, she's also a singer, a composer and regularly works alongside the Ronnie Scott鈥檚 Allstars, Seal, Michael Buble and Goldie. She was also joined by performer Tom McCredie and pianist/composer Nikki Yeoh.

主播大秀 Music Introducing in Redditch

主播大秀 Music Introducing is returning to the Railway in Redditch, which has become one of the main go-to venues for live music in the area.

Every month, we pitch up to one of our leading local venues at towns and cities across the region to reflect what's hot on the local scene.

Join us from 2pm-6pm to see the best new music in town. Admission is free.
