3 - 6 May: Upton Folk Festival

Upton Folk Festival takes over Upton-On-Severn, bringing its usual range of great performers with the folk genre.

This year is the festival’s 30th birthday and they promise a specially extended festival to celebrate.

Expect sessions in many of the pubs across the town and a general feel good weekend to kick off the festival season.

Supporting Wet Wet Wet

Lucy May Walker is a singer/songwriter, from Redditch, whose musical journey has been taking her to places far and wide.
Ìý
We had her in session, in Leominster, back in 2015. She then appeared on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Midlands Today in Birmingham. University then took Lucy to Cumbria before headingÌýto London where she followed her heart and established herself as a regular on the busking scene.
Ìý
During one of her gigs, at a railway station, Jeremy Vine discovered Lucy and invited her to appear on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio 2.
Ìý
Lucy is now heading across the country supporting Wet Wet Wet on their latest tour and has secured a spot at this summer's Big Feastival, after we put her forward through Ö÷²¥´óÐã Music Introducing.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Music Introducing in Redditch

This month's sessions were recorded at the Railway in Redditch, which has become one of the main go-to venues for live music in the area.
Ìý
Every month, we rock up to one of our leading local venues at towns and cities across the region to reflect what's hot on the local scene.
Ìý

In session

Ethon Fyffe is a singer/songwriter from Stourport and works in Worcester as a bus driver.
Ìý
He's into pop, RnB and hip hop and recently started writing soft rock tracks.
Ìý
He plays the guitar and piano but is an amazing singer.
Ìý
Influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Prince and Craig David - this was Ethon's FIRST-EVER gig!
Ìý
"An amazing soulful sound. A definite star of the future." - Andrew Marston

HellensMusic nr Ledbury

The organisers of a Herefordshire music festival say they're disappointed that their opening performance had to be cancelled after the star of the show had her visa refused.
Ìý
Hani Mojtahedy was due to perform at the Hellens Music Festival, in Much Marcle on Friday, but a mix up meant that she'd applied for a tourist visa instead of an artists' visa.
Ìý
The Kurdish singer-songwriter is known across the world for her work championing women's rights.
