In session

During his 20s, Jeremy Johnson pursued an international career as a geoscientist, working, living and travelling across four continents.

Jeremy's passion for music endured, but it wasn't until his late 20s that his development as a songwriter began to flourish.

Chronicling his varied and individual experiences, Jeremy completed his first album of work in the months leading up to his 30th birthday.

The response to 'The King & The Thief' laid the foundation for Jeremy's belief that his childhood dream of becoming a singer-songwriter could be realised.

Quitting the day job and deciding to live in a van, Jeremy went head-first into writing music, playing shows all over the world.

In the summer of 2018, he completed a four month European tour.

He's since taken up stage curation duties at Under The Hill festival near his hometown - and it was a real pleasure to welcome him into our 主播大秀 tent at the Hay Festival.

鈥淎 stunning performer with lush songs and beautiful lyrics鈥 - Andrew Marston.

Wizzafest highlights

Wizzafest returned to the Stoke Prior Sports & Country Club, last weekend, showcasing a variety of local musicians.

The event - which raises money for Macmillan Cancer Support - is organised by Emma Wilcock, who lost her dad to the illness.

Stoke Prior Sports & Country Club has become a hub for festivals, with Breaking Bands, On Board The Craft, Sonic Rock Solstice and Beermageddon also taking place on the same site.

主播大秀 Music Introducing at the Hay Festival

This month's sessions were recorded in the 主播大秀 tent at this year's Hay Festival.

The 2019 festivities featured more than 600 speakers across 11 days - including musicians Billy Bragg, The Gipsy Kings and The Waterboys.

According to festival director, Peter Florence, some 270,000 tickets were sold with attendees from over 40 countries, ranging from Afghanistan to Argentina.

Three Degrees voice camp

Following the success of previous weekends with Kiki Dee and Peter Straker, Choir Camp returns for a third year.

This time it's taking place at the idyllic Dunfield House in Kington, surrounded by 15 acres of rolling countryside.听

The session, which has been taking place today, has been led by Sheila Ferguson of The Three Degrees - known for her chart-topping hits including 'When Will I See You Again', 'Woman in Love' and 'Take Good Care of Yourself'.

Choir Camp 2019 is the brainchild of conductor, arranger and concert impresario Matthew Jones.

The self-proclaimed 'Patron Saint of the Tone Deaf' is a passionate believer that anybody can sing and has trained music lovers everywhere to play such venues as the Royal Albert Hall and record with the likes of Boy George, to critical acclaim.

Requisitioned during World War II for the American forces, Dunfield House was a bolthole for Winston Churchill for high-level meetings and elaborate dinners. Nearby Hergest Ridge inspired Mike Oldfield's 1974 album of the same name.

Mello Festival highlights: Brand New Heavies

Throughout this month, we're meeting the musicians that played at Mello Festival at Severn End Country Estate near Upton.

Tonight, we get top tips and advice for new musicians from the Brand New Heavies, who first burst onto the scene in 1985 going on to have 15 top 40 records between 1992 and 2000.

Session tracks: Chlo毛 Elliot

Chlo毛 Elliot is an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Stourport who loves to sing, write and perform!

She's been making music for as long as she can remember and is working hard to share her music with the world.

Because we like to help with things like that - she also joined us to switch on Worcester鈥檚 Christmas Lights.

"Haunting thought-provoking songs with lush melodies and mesmerising lyrics" - Andrew Marston.

Ellie Goulding at Radio 1's Big Weekend

The Herefordshire musician started singing as part of her drama classes at Lady Hawkins High School, while living in Kington, later performing at Open Mic nights while attending Hereford Sixth Form College - at Doodies (which is no more) on St Owen's Street.

And she's Herefordshire's most successful-ever export - having achieved more top 40 records than the Pretenders and Mott The Hoople put together.

Over these next couple of weeks, we'll hear tracks from her performance at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Middlesbrough.

D-Day choir

Hereford Cathedral Choir have been in France, this week, to perform at a series of commemorations to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

It was the 6th of June in 1944 when British, US and Canadian forces invaded the coast of Normandy, with 156,000 allied troops arriving in France by nightfall.

The choir sang at Bayeux Cathedral at the Royal British Legion Commemoration Service before veterans, their families and dignitaries.

主播大秀 Music Introducing at Wychwood

More than 100 acts performed at the 15th anniversary of the Wychwood Festival on a redesigned part of Cheltenham Racecourse.

Since 2010, 主播大秀 Music Introducing in Hereford & Worcester has been showcasing the best local talent at this annual event, taking over from Tom Robinson on stage curation duties.

Originally, Gloucestershire and the seven counties that surrounded the festival would suggest artists to a number of high profile executives in the music industry who鈥檇 decide the final 28.

Over the years, we鈥檝e become the last ones standing 鈥 being able to choose our prime acts to take to centre stage at this prestigious event.

We鈥檒l be hearing highlights from our 主播大秀 Music Introducing stage takeover over these next couple of weeks.
