Being a pupil from a non-moneyed background is tough. Nick won't get paid for the work he does until at least six months after he finishes it. It's still hard breaking through the class ceiling at the Bar.

Martha sees a lot of herself in Nick - what she was like when she first came to the Bar. The relationship between pupil and pupilmistress is a complex one. Lots of time spent together and not much stays hidden.

Selected as one of Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow 2009, Tom is fast becoming one of Britain's hottest young actors.

Having only graduated from RADA in July 2008, he managed to shoot regular lead characters in two television series, Trinity and Casualty 1909, prior to landing his roles in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll and the debut feature from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Cemetery Junction.

To compliment an exceptional year on screen, Tom made his professional theatre debut at The Young Vic for Luc Bondy in Sweet Nothings.
