Borgen: Outside the Castle
Meet the characters in Radio 4's spinoff from the popular Danish TV series 'Borgen'. The series is based on an original Radio Drama from the same Danish production company, DR, who made the TV series.
Hans Gammelgaard
(Played by Tim Pigott-Smith)
Hans is the permanent secretary for the Ministry of the Environment. Unflinchingly determined, Hans puts work before his family and finds himself at the centre of an Expenses scandal. Susannah (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) is his daughter and Nick (played by Will Howard) his grandson.
Jan Gleerup
(Played by Tom Goodman Hill)
Jan Gleerup is a hard drinking journalist writing for The Express. Jan鈥檚 on-off affair with Susannah becomes complicated when he befriends, Nick, her son.
Nick
(Played by Will Howard)
Nick is Hans鈥� grandson. He is an environmental rights campaigner keen to get involved in his grandfather鈥檚 causes.
Susannah
(Played by Katherine Dow Blyton)
Susannah is Hans鈥� daughter. She鈥檚 grown tired of Hans always putting work before his family and is wary of Nick鈥檚 involvement with him.
Edel
(Played by Pippa Hayward)
Edel is a long standing friend of Hans. She begins a relationship with him after his wife dies.
DP
(Played by Tony Gardner)
DP is the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Finance and a colleague of Hans Gammelgaard.
