主播大秀

Mayuri founded ATMA Dance in 2009 and works with composers, artists and multi-skilled performers. She trained in Bharatanatyam under Prakash Yadagudde, The Bhavan, London.

Mayuri’s work has an omni-cultural appeal for a wide variety of settings and audiences. These include creating pieces for Royal Ballet First Soloists and staging them at the Linbury Theatre; devising Erhebung, a dance-sonic-visual art installation for museums such as MIMA and the Great North; curating Art to Dance, a six-month long exhibition at Southampton City Art Gallery; a 22-date national tour of Sivaloka and Ghatam, a double bill of Bharatanatyam quintets, with sound recorded live by Delhi’s Midival Punditzat the Elephanta Cave Temple, Mumbai, supported by British Council India. These works featured in a 主播大秀4 documentary about Contemporary dance; 23+ performances of The Magic Fish (2016-2018), her first work for children, which headlined family events such as South Bank Centre’s Alchemy, The Place’s Something Happening for Kids and GemArts’ Masala festivals; and starring in Remember Me, a 主播大秀 One drama series with Michael Palin.

Organisations to commission Mayuri include, The Royal Opera; The Royal Ballet; 4Dance series for Channel 4; GemArts; Pavilion Dance South West, The Place, Guildhall School of Music and Dance (for her duet work with Anthony Marwood MBE) Akademi and King’s College, London.

Artistic positions have included: Choreographic Affiliate with the Royal Ballet Studio Programme; joint Associate Artist and Choreographer-in-Residence at The Place; and Artistic Director and choreographer for Ekanatyam, Hampshire Dance’s pilot South Asian Youth Dance Company.

Mayuri was artistic director, choreographer and performer in over ten Bharatanatyam duet and ensemble productions as part of ANGIKA (1998-2008) with Suba Subramaniam. ANGIKA productions were a leading force for Bharatanatyam duet and ensemble works in the UK that toured extensively across the UK and Europe.
