Since we last met Long Susan, she has become a mother to Conor Judge, now almost two years old. But little Conor has had an unusual start in life, having never known anything other than the inside of Newgate Prison. Here he resides with Long Susan. A life of reasonable comfort in the Mothers and Infants Wing of London’s most notorious gaol.

But all this – as with everything else in Susan’s life – is about to come to a very final end.
