Easter over

Well, that's easter done with. The place filled up and now most folk are away again and it's gone a bit flat. The weather has greyed up too. There was a cream tea on Saturday to raise money for the pensioners lunch club. Affectionately known as 'fossils club' their lunch used to be funded by the council, but after a year they stopped, so now it relies on donations and fundraising. The tea and raffle raised 拢400.33 so that should keep them in lunches for a month or two. It keeps their minds active as they need to remember whether it is at the Island Cafe or the Hotel, and don't think all they want is soggy cauliflower, next time we cook they are getting Mexican, courtesy of our new trainee.

The postman has his new van. It is very red. We are wondering what other official vehicles will join the post van and the water van. Will there be a landrover for the electric (with a wooden ladder!!) and one for BT (or Openreach). Talking of cars, or insuring cars, it is cheaper to get a new policy from Churchill than renew an existing one! 拢40 cheaper! And the best quote for our elderly dihatsu is from the post office. The quote was 拢120 ish and there is 拢50 cash back. Just imagine how cheap it could be if we didn't have the PA postcode.

The finishing touches are happening at the airport ticket office. HIAL come and inspect it next week. We had some official people in looking at our roads. We have good roads, at least, they are much better than those on Lismore. The officials went on to Tiree, and then Colonsay. They took videos of the road, so if there is an accident the video can be played to see if the road camber or condition was in any way responsible. I think 'they' will say any accident on a single track road with ditches is always caused by excessive speed, but it was nice to see the council wasting more money out here as well as all over the mainland.

Naught naughty Nic, not very PC about the elderly. You will be one in the very near future.

Have they got the wrong end of the stick about the 'road movie' genre - or were they making an Art House film project for the Screen Machine and An Lanntair?

Annie B from the usual

All of us will be elderly in the future..."if we're spared" (moan groan dribble) but I see no disrespect in calling crumblies fossils!

The screen machine won't come to Coll

Nic from Coll

No screen machine in coll? Where do you get your screens from then nic? I won't let the Sun go down on me ( a song by Sir Elton and the Michael of George chappies, I believe )

Tws from Fossilfreecroft

O!M!G! Sometimes Tws paints the sort of vivid word picture one would really rather not allow to enter the furry cranium.....*gag* Why won't the Screen Machine go to Coll?...Are the roads not wide enough?

Flying Cat from big breaths

But they do have two scree screening machines in Coll (in case one of them has a hiccup), brought over to the Coll International Airport (CIA) by the latest subsidized Airbus to pollute the atmosphere. Why some French tourists did not come on the same flight puzzles me.

Were those scree screening machines worked by itinerant Scree Indians?

Flying Cat from on the road again

Not bad, FC, not bad.

Excuse please, what is/are a screening machine? is it for immigration.

Dwarzkrz from Warsaw

It's a machine that sorts out the star-bellied sneeches from the other sort.
