Neep Right On To The End Of The Road

Well it's taken me the best part of a week to recover from last weekends festivities. I think ardont's blog summarises (in words) last Saturday's rip roaring success of a day so I'll not bore you with more of the same. We were however very fortunate in as much as Ruthodanort attended wir day as official events photographer. A huge thanks to everyone who attended and helped out on the day, you were and are all great. I hope you enjoy the images and we look forward to seeing you in Trondra next year

Great pics of your neepathon! I hope it becomes an annual event. How about neep bowling? either the 10-pin kind or the green type should prove a challenge.

i'm glad you all had a good time--the pics of cooked neeps make my mouth water--down here they are pretty hard to get---farmers feed their livestock with them!!

The Fellow on the fourth picture looks like he's flipping a Rutabago as the difference from the purple bottomed turnips in the "guess basket"..... do they call them that on Trondra? Great pics looks like all enjoyed themselves would this be the first "neep-a-thon?

Some folks worship stone, others gold and yet others ... neeps. It takes all sorts ... Wonder whether they have neeps on Craggy Island? Anybody ever tried neeps with hot salsa?

Some great comments already. Neeps were delicous Carol but most of them did end up going to "Mary's pigs", and the answer to your question - 443. I think a Rutabago, frodo, would generally be referred to as a Swede but perhaps Scallowawife could confirm along with her caption suggestion. Well done Ruthadanort for finding time to blog, thought you would have had much better things to do though.

As the individual responsible for sourcing the peerie neeps for the day I feel I should add to the technical discussion: The larger rutabago is known as a swede in these parts. But also tends to also get called a neep. My neep dealer actualy calls the purple bottomed turnips 'Milans'. By the end of the day those who were left were tasting them raw. As you do! They were fine. I took some home and threw into a pot of soup with some lentils and a touch of saffron. Nothing else. Tasty.

Hello Trondra ! I am hoping to visit you in Sept. I always vowed that I would "make a call". The reason being that my first ship when I had finished training in the Royal Navy was HMS TRONDRA. an Isle Class Trawler. (built in Aberdeen). My Wife an I are looking forward to the visit.
