Snapping Somerset in 360掳

Send in your suggestions of where in the county we should take 360-degree panoramic images.

Have you wondered how we made our interactive 360-degree images of Somerset landmarks?

We have a fair few panoramic images on bbc.co.uk/somerset - click on this link to have a look:

The bbc.co.uk/somerset team used a standard digital camera with a special lens to create the site's panoramic pictures from around the county.

Pictures are taken with the operator hiding underneath a tripod so he/she stays out of the shot.

The priority is to ensure that the camera and lens is level. Using a spirit level ensures that the end results do not give the viewer sea-sickness when they look at the pictures on the web.

The raw images taken from the camera are doughnut-shaped. Special software is used to unfold the 360-degree view.

The still images can then be compressed and uploaded on to the web for you to enjoy.

Where do you want us to snap?

If you'd like to see a part of Somerset in all its 360-degree loveliness, then we want to hear from you. We've got a new panoramic camera, and we're going to use it!

Since we have a shiny new camera, we'd like to add some more - and we want your suggestions.

On your list for us so far are:

  • Alfred's Tower
  • Blackdowns
  • Blagdon and the Chew Valley
  • Burton Pynsent Monument
  • (More shots of) Cheddar Gorge and Caves
  • (More shots behind the scenes at the) County Ground
  • County Museum
  • Dillington House
  • Exmoor
  • Mells
  • Quantocks (especially Wills Neck)
  • Sand Point
  • (Bath Place in) Taunton
  • (More shots of) University of Bath and Claverton Down
  • Wellington Monument
  • West Somerset Railway
  • (From the top of St James's Church in) Winscombe
  • (Town of and countryside surrounding) Wiveliscombe
  • Wookey Hole Caves

Perhaps you know of a particularly beautiful viewpoint or part of Somerset, which we haven't taken a photo of already, which would look great as a panoramic image.

Or maybe you know of a building or structure that you'd like to see in 360 degrees all year round.

If so, just fill in the form below with your suggestions, and we'll do our best to get there!

Where would you like us to take the camera in the county?
