i lived on parkhill since i was bout 1yr old till i was 12 i am now 19 i loved it there and was very sad to move off! i went to grace owen nursery and to park hill primary and there are 2 teaches that i have seen in the pics and remember mr machell and mrs clegg there were the good times!!!

hiya everybody from parkhill, i was born in 1967 and raised on parkhill. like many others i have to agree that we had some really fantastic times. playing two balls, kit-can, delavio the list is endless we were never bored. shaun do you remember me, you and pete worthington used be forever running playing delavio and then often if we got money go up to the barracuda for a bag of chips. oh what wonderful memories i have of the wonderful growing up on parkhill.

Myself & my brother Martyn lived on the flats from birth in 1960 we moved in about 1975 but still carried on our education at Norfolk school and visiting the flats almost daily to see our mates. Some people may remember my mum Rita who used to be the Bingo caller at Park Bingo (formerly Park Pictures)for a number of years.I have very fond memories of those days and could reminisce at length about them. The schools the shops,bonfires on South Street, Saturday morning Matinees at Park Pictures the Classic in Fitzallan Square and the ABC. The main thing though was the great sense of community that I don't believe exists anymore in these modern times.

I attended Park school during the 1960's and remember being taken to Acres Hill and then Bluestone while it was demolished and rebuilt in 1967/8. I also was part of the 287th Park Hill scout troop, Phil Osborn was the Scout leader,he created our monthly scout magazine, the 995 Express - after the 995 homes built on Park Hill. He unfortunately passed away at Christmas 2004. Although I lived on the Hyde Park, I used to spend quite a lot of my time in and around "the flats", a lot of my friends lived there so we used to frequent all of the local pubs and then venture into town.

my dad, nanan, grandad and cousin lived on Park Hill. I would visit every weekend. It was a great place, i miss it! x

the lady with the friendly smile and purple cardy is my mum, Winnie Hancock. we lived on Claywood flats which were just a stones throw from parkhill and we were definately part of the Park hill community. I went to Grace Owen Nursery and then onto Park Hill School through the 70's. Mum also attended the community bingo twice a week.(photo 3 Charles and Dianna's Wedding)

hi, lady in the foreground, in maroon cardigan is my mum winnifrid hancock fondly known by all as winnie. she was a former resident of bard street and then lived on the nearby claywood drive but played a large part in the parkhill community. winnie sadly passed away some years ago, so it was wonderful to see her looking so well on the internet thanks to whoever sent in this photograph.

My parents Albert and Doreen Crossland did the best thing ever moveing to park hill flats as soon as they were built,my brothers David,Tony and little sis Jayne all had a brilliant childhood.We had so many friends everyone knew everyone what a comunity,there was everything you needed on parkhill.We were all safe played out with friends untill all hours,kick can,delavio,knock knock auntie rosie,british buldog,two balls to name but a few of the games oh what fun times.We could always play out no matter what the weather because of the landings,in winter we would go sledging on south street and do you remember bonfire nights?God they were great gatherings all on southstreet again after we had gone around knocking on doors asking for wood to build the bonfire there.May festivals,scouts,brownies & guides,fri comunity dances which were just super,the list of memories is endless the more i think about our time there the hapier i get.I want to say a big hello to everyone whome has contributed to this site from the Crosslands.Thats something else on there,we were all know by our family names.Great times,great people.

I spent many a happy year growing up on the Parkhill flats. My family moved onto the complex from Arbourthorne in 1968. I left the flats to get married in 1982. I attended the infants school there and can still remember the building being reduced to rubble by cranes and bulldozers. A good few people shed a tear at that site. I made some very good friends back in those heady days and the high point of the week was going along to the fri. night dances at the community hall. The Link pub was my local and i was part of the pool team for a few years. One bad memory for me was getting stuck in a lift for three hours one sunday morning and trying not to panic. I now live in Lincolnshire but paid a nostalgic visit to the flats a few years back and was shocked to see how much the flats had fallen into decay. Shops and pubs that i had used were boarded up and there was rubbish littering every street. A real shame to have such fond memories dashed. I will always remember my days on the flats as back then, people were very friendly. Crime was just about unheard of and the streets and the rows were a safe place to be even on a dark winters evening.

I lived on Parkhill from 1961 to 1984. I remember the Friday night community centre dances and i remember the games of Delavio we used to play. I also remember the Old Parkhill county infants and Junior school i went to up the age of 8 when they pulled it down and we all had to go to Acres Hill school till they built a new one. You can't bottle those days they were precious.

I remember getting a good hiding off Mr Woodhead - I wagged it one day (went to Dinnington on the bus I remember)- never did it again. Was brought up on 'the flats' and never did you ever find a better place to live. Did me no harm :-D

i lived on park hill from the age of one and my brother paul was born on there. he is on the left in picture 40.we had great times on there and park hill people still stick together,Anyone remember the friday dance in the community hall in the 70s? Great memories.

I LIVED HERE WITH MY MOTHER AND FATHER FOR 25YRS.IT WAS A MARVELLOUS PLACE. I USED TO SPEND HOURS WAITING ON THE LANDINGS FOR MY PARENTS TO COME BACK FROM THE PUB,,BUT THEY USED TO LET ME HAVE A BALL TO PLAY WITH AND GIVE ME SOME MONEY FOR THE SHOP BUT I USED TO BUY CIGS WITH IT..AND MY NEIGHBOUR CAUGHT ME,SHE GOT ME BY THE EAR AND TOOK ME TO THE SCOTTISH, MY DAD TOOK MY PANTS DOWN AND REMOVED HIS BELT I NEW WHAT I HAD COMING!! I NEVER TOUCHED A CIG AGAIN. WE WERE LIKE ONE BIG FAMILY..THEN WHEN I BECAME 17 MY DAD LET ME GO TO THE PUB ON DUKE ST..AND HAVE MY FIRST PINT OF BITTER, I THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT WITH ALL THE MEN. NOT HAVING TO SNEAK CIDER FROM THE SHOP TO DRINK ON THE PARK. I COULD ACTUALLY GO IN THE PUB..LOVELY MEMORIES. PARK HILL HAD A BIG PART IN MY LIFE.

My family and I moved into Park Hill December 1959. I was 8. It was a marvellous place to live underfloor central heating and garchey waste disposal. Previously our family had lived crowded in 2 rooms in a terraced house up Crookes. Here we had a 3 bed room maisonette opening out on to Duke Street. It was a real community and people were proud to live there. Sadly i think that it became unfashionable to live in flats and as a consequence the community spirit deteriorated. i can remember Foreign film crews coming to the flats to film them.We had kids outings to the seaside and thriving pubs. in fact my dads local(subsequently mine) the Link under landlordship of the Hardy family was renowned for its buffet lunches and Rolls Royces would be parked outside the pub. Football players from the Owls and Blades like Peter Swann and Johnny Kay were also regular visitors.

i lived on park hill from birth till me leaving seven years ago my memorys of park hill are the familys that lived next to each other werent just friends they were like family in a way every one pulling to gether when times were tough you felt safe at night and during the holidays every one played games with each other football cricket untill it went dark and because the landings were well light the perantas used to be sat out side playing cards or just talking till the am during summer time any way park hill was just a great place to live
