DI Alex Drake arrived with us in April 1981. Transfer papers are not to hand at time of writing - will chase up ASAP. But she certainly gives the impression of having travelled far. Perhaps Croydon? Degree in psychology. Experienced officer with a thorough knowledge of the city. On a personal note I am all in favour of lady Police officers rising to senior rank within our force. Diversity is the key to growth. Diversity of experience. Diversity of outlook. The female officer can display characteristics of empathy, insight, patience and fortitude that the male officer struggles more to maintain.
DI Drake has proven herself perceptive in deduction and understanding the workings of the criminal mind. Although I am aware that her methods can cause frustration amongst her colleagues, especially DCI Hunt, her style of policing is progressive and modern. Grist to the mill as we march into an ever-more transparent era of law enforcement. That said, a sensible ratio of the sexes at this level must be maintained. DI Drake is not our "token" Inspector, but she should remain our only Inspector.
She carries a strong sense of justice but has an annoying habit of applying this as much to the practices of CID as to the criminal underclass. Has a worrying tendency to become irrationally angry and emotionally disturbed, raising concerns about her estranged daughter Molly but also aspects of "the future" - something she seems very preoccupied with. Is probably pre-menstrual - perhaps for as long as 3 weeks in the month. An attractive girl. Some sexual tension perceived between herself and DCI Hunt. Must be nipped in the bud. These things never end well.
Hobbies revolve mostly around the appreciation of Italian food and wines.
Report compiled by Chief Superintendent Mackintosh.
