Yeasayer Q & A

Post categories:

ATL | 20:17 UK time, Saturday, 20 February 2010

Yeasayer are in town, which means half the music scene of Belfast are about to descend on the Speakeasy in Belfast. ATL caught up with them earlier to find out all according to the New York experimental band...

**

Hello there, and how the Dickens are you right now?
Very tired.

So what are we to expect at your gig at the Speakeasy in Belfast then?
Hopefully... total chaos. Dublin was a great crowd last night so hopefully Belfast can match that energy.

When and how did you all get it together to become Gods of Experimental Rock?
We had a secret meeting at Newgrange with many other Gods and we were granted immortality and given the gift to slay all competition in the experimental rock arena.

yeahsayer.jpgTOPICAL QUESTION OF THE WEEK - With the Winter Olympics on the way, which event would Yeasayer tackle if given the chance and why?
I kind of think the winter Olympics are the lame Olympics. I've never played any of those sports so I have no point of reference for how good the athletes are. My wife is Canadian and she swears that the winter Olympics are legit.

Your new album Odd Blood seems set to propel Yeasayer into the next level. What's been the major changes to the band since All Our Cymbals?
Ira got a haircut.

Your house has been maliciously set ablaze by as yet un-named evil forces, but you have the strength to battle the flames and fumes to rescue one piece of music, what is it and why?
Let it all burn. I'll start over.

Tell us your favourite one-liner.
See below:

You all went to the same school in Baltimore as the guys from the Animal Collective. Is it just a coincidence or is the area a hot bed for great, left of centre music?
It's a Hot bed of coincidences.

Tell us this, if you were portrayed in a film, who would play you?
Mick Jagger. But I think it should be Mick Jagger with some Benjamin Button type reverse aging computer FX and make-up and he should also be shrunk down to the size of a baby.

Who is the greatest human to have ever lived?
MLK JR

Lastly, in three words describe life, the universe and everything within it.
ALL WE GOT
