CLUBS
Saturday, 8th May: DJ Food @ The Black Box, Belfast
One of Ninja Tunes finest DJs will be playing Black Box as part of the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival line up. I've been a fan of Ninja Tune for almost 2 decades and DJ Food is always worth checking out and anyone who saw his live AV set last year at Trans will know what this.
Saturday, 29th May: Annie Mac presents Zinc, Delphic Live, Skream & Greenmoney @ The Ulster Hall, Belfast
Annie has came along way from the days of doing the door at Shine and it's a joy to see her back on home turf and bringing some fine DJs with her. For me the highlights will be Zinc and his new crackhouse sound which isn't a million miles from bass heavy D&B sound he once pioneered. I'll also be excited to hear Skream rinse out the Ulster Hall sound system with his wall shakin dubstep. Delphic live and Greenmoney fill out an impressive bill in a unique venue.
Friday, 9th April: Ecker feat Kabdriver & Deadman w/Residents @ The Menagerie, Belfast
Ecker is one of my fav local nights and have had some impressive guests over the last year that combine local talent with some of the freshest artists on the electronica scene. The music policy combines dubstep, electro, krunky bass and busted beats. If you like a refreshing change to the usual dance music in Belfast you will love Ecker. BASS IN YA FACE!!!
TUNES
Benga & Walsh - Biscuit Factory (Biscuit Factory Recs)
This is the flip side to the new Benga release on Biscuit Factory and as usual is right on the money. The sound here is huge, combining rave elements with a slow paced half step beat and bass structure. I love the groove to this track and the almost cheesey vocodered vocal. Both tracks are worth buying and I'm sure will be played at many rave ups.
