Glasgowbury Headliners!

Post categories: ,Ìý

Rigsy | 14:44 UK time, Monday, 12 April 2010

It's just occurred to us that, with the line ups for and being announced recently, it may look like we've forgotten all about our very own , taking place in Draperstown this July.

As if! We're just waiting, like everyone else, for some news on the line up for what is set to be their biggest event to date. In the meantime though, a little speculation.

Tonight's suggestiON-AIR then, is even more straight forward than usual. We'd like to know which Northern Irish band you would like to see headling Glasgowbury 2010. Let us know via , , email or (once we're on air text - 81771)

Here's a few bands definitely in the running (please note ATL has no idea at this point, this is all pure speculation. And yes, I know we've left out Lafaro and ASIWYFA. THERE'S JUST TOO MANY BANDS!

General Fiasco
General Fiasco are Glasgowbury regulars - not only are they from just up the road, but they did their first ever gig at the festival and performed second from last in 2009. Still though, they've finally released their debut album and started enjoying some proper success throughout the UK, so a crack at the headline slot seems only fair.

Fighting With Wire
Originally booked to headline last year, the Derry three piece had to bail due to commitments in the US. As another act who've been heavily involved both with organizing the event and performing (most notably doing their best to blow Ash off the main stage in 2008) they'd certainly be welcomed bill toppers.

Two Door Cinema Club
Given their massive following across Europe, Two Door are possibly the most successful new band from Northern Ireland. That said, they're not Glasgowbury regulars and while good enough to headline, it feels like they don't have the required connection with this legendary festival.

Duke Special
Headliner in 2007, Duke Special would be a welcomed addition to the bill given he's not performed at the festival since. But if he headlined, he'd no doubt be following a selection of noisier bands. Question is, would that work

The Answer
Arguably the best live act Northern Ireland has at the moment, they'd definitely put on a show and do the business. Definitely a real 'festival' type of band as well. They've certainly played enough of them in the past.

Divine Comedy
This could be like in 2008, when Paddy Glasgow welcomed an established act (Ash) to headline. We'd love to see it, though granted it may nark a few punters who reckon no act should be able to just swan in and head straight to the top of the bill.

Snow Patrol
I (Rigsy) went home to see a load of family on Easter Sunday. A load of them are from Draperstown and were able to tell me Snow Patrol were headlinging this years Glasgowbury. First I'd heard of it. Lovely rumour though. But you know, a bit daft.
