Amy's Fresh Meet: Tame Impala

Meet , the perfect accompaniment for these (numbered) sunny days! Aussies as a nation love their rock, and these Perth-ians specifically like to do their rocking neck deep in psychedelic grooves. There's a large dose of The Beatles via Cream and a twist into modern psychedelic like Manitoba era Caribou.

These comparisons are based on the one song I've heard though, the first single [see below]. Opening up with a wah drenched guitar and followed by a tumbling drum into, images of a hazy analogue tape studio and Woodstock-esque droves come to mind. The drums lay a massively infectious groove, as the guitars wash around your head and the vocals swirl declaring, "you will never come close to how I feel".

In fact, listen to the lyrics closely and you'll discover this is mind-warping stuff through and through. Set to be enjoyed, lying back on the grass watching the world go by under the splitting rays. Though, the bliss never lasts that long as shown by the video directed by Megaforce. Check it out!

Tame Impala release their debut album, Innerspeaker, on Modular Records on June 7th.
