Oxegen 2011 - The Vaccines
Green Spheres, Saturday, 8.45pm
Describe in a Tweet: We'll never get sick again.
What happened: A couple of years ago we'd have struggled to get near the tent hosting the biggest new band of the weekend. Today, we dander right up to the second barrier, for a nice close look. Which, as it turns out, is a big old slice of win - The Vaccines are on form. With more big tunes than makes sense for a band one album in.
Crazy In Love: Those hits are particularly shiny. Wreckin Bar (Ra Ra Ra) is rattled right back at them before Post Break-Up Sex is sung like it's the last song at an indie disco. If You Wanna feels like such a big moment that people leave afterwards, assuming that's it from The Vaccines. The fools.
Why Don't You Love Me: The concern is that what they do next would need to be as remarkable and pretty different or this lot could be forgotten about soon enough. But lets not worry about that now.
Oxegen rating: 8/10
