Electric Picnic 2011 - Blonde Redhead
Crawdaddy, Saturday 3rd September, 5.15pm
Describe in a Tweet: Blonde Redhead performed a trick, they made an entire tent of people sway in time.
What Happened: I'm sure Blonde Redhead are sick of reviewers using hackneyed old terms like "the music just washes over you" andÌý "here, these are some pretty, floaty beats, I need to lie myself on this soft grass and take stock of my life, my love, hopes, dreams and my fears".
This break, or more specifically, this refuge from the non-stop pace of Electric Picnic was welcomed, and soundtracked by some of the most beautiful music ATL has heard live in a long time. 23, Spring and Summer Fall, Messenger, Falling Man and SW were all delivered to the growing crowd with love.
And although there was basically no punter-interaction from Kazu Makino and the twins Simone and Amedeo Pace, everyone in front of them was so involved in the performance, we doubt it would have come to much.
Swoon: Falling Man. Amedeo's haunting vocals seemed to tease the sun from behind the clouds.
Funeral: Although not a small crowd by any means, where was everyone?
EP rating: 9/10
