Electronic producer Herb Magee aka Arvo Party got straight into things in front of a busy crowd in the Dirty Onion shortly after 8pm. Fits of piano is scattered across his varied instrumental electronica. Unlikely to be comparable to anything else happening at Output, Arvo Party merely stands behind a desk of electronics but runs through a seamless set. There isn't a moment of dead air, as each track is transitioned with perfect sleight of hand into the next.
The performance is full of heavy set beats and rhythms and synth sounds that veer into 80s soundtrack territory. Amongst all this, 'Liberte', met with a cheer, stands out as his biggest tune. A lengthy six minute single filled with the closest thing to a hook that Arvo Party can muster.
