– (I Don’t Feel Like) Giving In, Depth of Field & Peripheral Vision – In Session
Friday 8th April April 2016

They Say: “This is our second session for ATL, this time we got to record in the main studio in Blackstaff surrounded by the (Stephen) Nolan show set which was weird but fun. Sadly Nolan himself wasn’t around but I did sit in his chair for a second, which was a thrill. The first two songs are from our new record ‘Soft Days’. We usually start our set with ‘(I Don’t Feel Like) Giving In’ which also starts the album. We recorded straight through the PA with very little mixing and no overdubs so it’s raw sounding but a fair enough representation of our current live sound. The third song ‘Peripheral Vision’ is an oldie but one we can bang out in one take pretty easily, so we opted for that as we were kind of running against the clock. It’s also nice to have a version with Davey’s backing vocals which I think are the icing on the cake. Hopefully Nolan would be proud.”

We Say: “It’s always a thrill to get a band into 主播大秀 Blackstaff with full drum kit and amps turned up, even more so when it’s a band with such a fine back catalogue – and new album – as Sea Pinks. In this session we have a reminder that as great as they are on record, they’re just as good live.”

Sea Pinks play Sick Records, Belfast on 16th April for Record Store Day. They play London at The Lock Tavern and then The Social on April 24th and May 25th respectively, before dates in Wharf Chambers, Leeds on May 26th and The Flying Duck, Glasgow on May 27th. Soft Days is out now.
