The Great, The Good, The Beautiful and The Damned

Raj&Pablo | 15:13 UK time, Monday, 6 October 2008

LastÌýweekend our shows were like being on a Bollywood Merry go round - we had a blast: The Great, The Good, The Beautiful and the Damned.Ìý The newly crowned mogulÌýof Bollywood - Vipul Shah popped in to the studios for a chat and revealed that he had just signed aÌýmulti million dollar deal with FOX after the super success of SING is KINNG and we joked with him that he should also make "Kaur is Queen".

Minissha-Lamba.jpgThe diminutive Minissha Lamba told us she would have loved to be Miss World but her height is too short - and jokingly refused to tell us who - Ranbir or Imran had the better body; the gorgeous Sophie Chaudrhy - who's item number for "Kidnap" is the talk of the town - was overwhelmed at the reaction she is gettingÌýand revealedÌýhow heavyÌýher skimpy costumes were.ÌýWe also ran our conversation with theÌýlegendaryÌýDev Anand.ÌýTons of you wanted to be extras in Salman Khan's new movie Veer and our impromptu homage to the late great Parveen Babi had some of you in tears.Ìý

Raj: Parveen Babi was one of Bollywood earliest icons and the first ever Bollywood star to feature on the cover of Time magazine. Stumbling acrossÌýherÌýlast interview on Your Tube - it was recorded a few years before her untimely death, all alone in her flat - sent shivers down my spine and I phoned Pablo straight away. The interview is poignantÌýand will make you laugh, cry and feel a little bit strange. The tragic royal princess who suffered from schizophrenia made me think of the frailty of stardom.

Ìý

Pablo: I was amazed that this rarely seen footage was available. Parveen was a trailblazer and her life story was depicted in theÌýBhatt movie "Woh Lamhe".Ìý A true star ahead of her time. What amazed me was the reaction of our listeners after our homage and got me thinking.ÌýA lot of you were moved to tears,Ìýwhat is about the magic of Bollywood and Bollywood stars that mesmerises us?
