WELL WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT BIG ORANGE THING IN THE SKY.

Chris Evans | 16:44 UK time, Friday, 19 September 2008

I have to say...

...it's absolutely bloody gorgeous outside today.

Three days of more of the same to follow apparently with Monday being a scorcher !

So it's The Ryder Cup and beers in the garden for me and mine.

Just one point today...

How the heck have loads more traders made a load more money again over the last twenty four hours ?

Somebody somewhere is having a huge laugh at our expense. We must be mad to let them keep getting away with it.

CLP.

Well what happened there then? CLP blog posted on Friday afternoon, magically appearing Monday morning ... ??

    Techno-phobe Auntie??

Tash looks stunning in the wig Chris! I've always thought that if my hair all fell out I'd have wigs to match my moods. I'd also save a load of time in the mornings, and a fortune on styling products!

    Happy Monday y'all!

    morning all

lovely weekend for the weather although I was on nights so missed most of it

On Saturday afternoon an old mate of mine sadly died whilst playing football. He was our goalkeeper for years 'back in the day' at school, youth football and so on. Only 38 with a wife and son.
Will miss the 'big man', sleep tight Bunny

Gingembre, absolutely awful news about your friend. Terrible for his wife and son - I am sure you and all his friends will be there to help her get through the really difficult days that lie ahead.

Hah just took 3 hours to appear from the depths of the internet, better late than never though hey! I'm not sure about the ginger wig... I reckon she'd look alot better without.. (and I'm not being gingerist.. I is a fellow ginger myself).

Dissapointing end to a great Ryder Cup but bring on Wales 2010!!

I moved into university over the weekend and it's a nice town and everything but is it right for me to be hating the uni and the people and the general feel of the place? Everyone else seems to get on fine with it...

  • Comment number 9.

tom - which uni did you go to? It took me a while to settle down at mine as the local people hated students but it does all work out for the best!

  • Comment number 10.

Up in Aberystwyth (I'm still not sure of the spelling...) The local people here love students it's a ghost town without em... right on the sea as well.

  • Comment number 11.

Gingembre so sorry to hear that, thoughts are with the family and friends.

  • Comment number 12.

the lovely wales - when i looked at that as a uni 8ish years ago I was told they they dislike students because of the noise and mess they make - give it a few weeks to settle down and learn your way about and make some friends - you should be fine

    Allotment News Flash .....

We were vandalised at the weekend.

No, not the hoodie oiks that hang around the local adjoining field, nor the munchies off the estate. No my friends, our allotment was vandalised by .....

    ..... badgers.

Had it away with all of our corn on the cobs, the cheeky minxes.

    Nature eh? Who's have it?

PS: Badgers = black and white beaver like creatures. Nowt to do with the divine Ms Love ! xx

  • Comment number 15.

Sorry to hear about that gingembre, sad news indeed.

We have a terrible badger problem back at home... they line the roads wherever you go at the moment it's disgusting.

And yeah I hope I get used to uni life and everythong otherwise I'd have to go home and find a JOB!

  • Comment number 16.

Tomgriff - you will be close enough when I'm in bolt hole to get to you and cuff your ear!! a mere 20 mins or so away. Give it a chance - takes time to settle in - are you welsh or english? if welsh speak the lingo to the locals they'll love it. if english - learn a couple of words. when in doubt just say "do do" (as in well I never or goodness me or there you go!).
    What are you studying?

    Beesmum xxx

  • Comment number 17.

Badgers Diva - pesky things - no-one can grow veg any more in bolt hole cos of them!
Left some majestic sweet corn growing nicely last year - next visit - gone!! goodness knows how they got in as we are all meshed up to keep doggy in and originally chickens/duck out!!

  • Comment number 18.

I is studying the wide old world of Mathematics! And well I live like 2 miles outside of Wales which is a right pain because I'm 2 miles away from getting all those Welsh grants which would help things so much! Why cant the English government sort something out like that...

  • Comment number 19.

Ugggghhhh Tom - that was my WORSE subject at school. Still can't do long division, and I'm 40 !!!

Now, words on the other hand ....

  • Comment number 20.

Tomgriff - well done you!! - the world will be your oyster - mathematicians as rare as hens teeth!!

  • Comment number 21.

Ah yes, I remember it well. Arriving at uni off the ferry, not knowing a soul when it seemed like everyone else was already mates! Miserable for 3 weeks, but had a ball for the rest of my 4 years. Give it a little while tomgriff, it's all about settling in.

Friend of mine left after 2 weeks cos she couldn't settle - perhaps it was the right decision for her (couldn't tell you, as unfortunately we lost touch) but I couldn't help thinking that she didn't give it much of a chance...

On t'other hand, if you give it a while and it's really not your thing, don't be too proud to admit it :-)

    AF x

ps CLP, if I had to choose I'd go with wig #3, but with that colouring Tash really is not a ginger is she!!

pps gingembre, so sorry to hear about your friend xx

  • Comment number 22.

ppps tomgriff, keep us updated on Aberystwyth. My niece is thinking of applying there - along with another 8 or 9 places, which she has to narrow down - so it'd be nice to be able to give her an insider's view!

Her father's trying to get her to stay at home and go to a local uni, but poor soul he's on a hiding to nothing there... Ah, she reminds me so much of me at her age - where's the farthest I can go!!

    Good afternoon fellow bloggers!

What is happening to the blog these days? I wonder if it has anything to do with the photos as the previous blog with the golf photies appeared late albeit not 3 days!

Well my weekend was chaotic as usual. Realised that the christening was on Sunday (makes sense!). Saturday - Did my egg run, ran out of packaging have to wait until Tuesday for new ones, fell asleep for an hour - (normally bliss, but meant I was running late for the rest of the day), Turkeys arrived. Sunday -Christening on Sunday (eeeearrrly!) over to In laws for lunch (lasts 2.5hrs) Helped mr Egg and F-i-L for a few hours, Granny egg appears to say kitten had to go to Vets (V. Weak and spaced out, spewing a lot! Overnight stay required)

This morning mend egg machine, pick kitten up from Vets, rescue ducks from septic tank, dog locked me out of truck - V. Late for work!

    Now here at last.

It is a very nice uni and a very nice town and has the highest satisfactory ratings or something the keep blabbering on about... it certainly has the nicest accomodation out of the uni's I've seen (all be it I've seen Aber and Keele and Keele was just rough).

Oh and very nice fish and chips which may have been the reason I actually chose Aber...

    Hey all,

Those wigs look like fun, although does wearing a wig make your head hot?

Ginembre, I'm so sorry about your friend, very sad.

Welcome back to everyone all fresh from their holidays, hope you all had good times.

Thank you for your good weather thoughts SBP - if everyone could start doing sun dances (like rain dances but backwards!) it would be much appreciated! Although it will be the day it will be. If it's raining I would like photo's of us under big umbrellas!

Tom, give it a while to settle. Give it a couple of weeks to find your feet and you may find you feel different when you start getting into the lectures etc properly. Although that said, I actually changed universities after the first semester. I made some great friends in the few months I was there, and 10 years later am still in touch with some of them. But the course wasn't what I really wanted. So after a lot of upheaval and it was incredibly difficult from a paperwork, and personal point of view I moved to a different uni. I was much happier there, but it took much much longer to settle in and make friends etc the second time around because everyone was already settled. So speaking from experience, give yourself a semester to see how it goes (it will go quicker than you'd think!) then if you still really are not happy you could think about going else where.

In the meantime, I have 4 days before I drag all my luggage on to the big metal birdie to fly home for a little party. Although the rings still aren't finished, the car broke down last week and is still in the garage, and still have a million and one things to do! Oh, and the future Mr Dragon is at a conference ALL WEEK.
    Me? going mad...?
    nooooooo............ gin anyone?

Funnily enough I have never found the need to jump in a rescue a black brick dressed in my Pyjama's walking down the canal.

I thought Tash looked great and rather mysterious. I just love a good wig.
