Morning Tuesday folks.

Chris Evans | 08:43 UK time, Tuesday, 7 July 2009

When I said yesterday that good actions deliver extra energy, well there is obviously a time limit to that; as last night I arrived home at 8.20 and both Tash and I were in bed by 9.30.

We were pooped to say the least and just had to retire - none of this however before we had devoured two amazing rib eye steaks, marinated in freshly squeezed lime and olive oil before being mercilessly pan fried in a sizzling sensation of heat and smoke - it's the only way.

Going to bed early achieves many things almost exclusively all good, especially deliverance from the chocolate monster - unless that is just moments after you think you have escaped him you hear the words - "hey babe look what I found in the fridge" at which point a largely untouched and already opened family size bag of Maltesers is plonked on the bed and five minutes later seems to have mysteriously disappeared into our bellies.

That said an early night is still a Godsend and especially on a Monday ahead of the thick end of another crazy week on planet Earth.

And here's the mad bit - Noah slept all the way through. That is all the way for the first time ever ! Tash woke up this morning in disbelief feeling like a million dollars. We both rushed into the little man's room to make sure he was ok, and there he was wide awake with a big smile on his face but quiet as a mouse - now what's that all about? Children indeed.

    Morning blogpeeps!

Will try to catch up with the posts over the past few days soon.

Have a very exciting day today as my best mate's gf is due to have her C section at 10am at the hospital in Andorra la Vella this morning!!!! They're expecting a baby girl and it's their first. My BM is 52 so this is going to be a huge life changing event though right at the moment he seems to think that itshouldn't make that much difference to their lifestyle... we'll see!!

It sounded like CLP & the team and the lucky winners had the time of their lives over the weekend. Somehow I don't think I'll be quite in the league to bid this year but it's good to dream...

Hope you all have a fab day!

Feel a bit mank today but looking forward to perking up later - see my comments on yesterdays blog at the bottom if you want to know my frame of mood - its a strange one and I'm hoping work will distract me enough today

    Hi Chris,

Congratulations on your good night sleep and on having such a wonderful baby son, and of course a beautiful wife. Those maltesers sound very tempting and the rib eye steaks sound delicious!!

Lyndy - a baby at 52??? Is your friend mad!!!! I'm sure it will be the best thing that ever happens to them - but I think they are in for a shock if they think their lifestyle won't change. It will never be the same again- ask Chris he should know!!!

    Morning all

Bit of a struggle here today, I think I need some of whatever Noah's had, as I got very little sleep, had to get up extra early, then got stuck in a huge traffic jam, and ended up being late for work.....!!

Need an early night tonight methinks!

    Morning gang!

Early nights were definitely the order of the day (night!) then! I was tucked up in noddy land just before 10 o'clock, and just like weeny Noah, slept all the way thru to the alarm at half six this morning .... and I feel

    WONDERFUL

    for it!

Had to get petrol this morning, my worst job in the world. I would honestly rather iron than get gas for the car. Hate it, hate it, hate it. The only saving grace is that the garage isn't a million miles from the Golden Arches eatierie so had bacon and egg muffins for brekkie. Delish!

Also listened to some "vintage" Madonna on the way in, so was singing along a top pelt. Man, I owned that space!!!

    Ha!

Right. Work ..... back in a bit. Honest guv!

How I would love a real good sleep, don't really get the chance with working shifts plus the jam-eaters. still can't complain really, who else would love only 3 or 4 hours sleep after a night shift to be introduced to a disney or cbeebies character???? hehe

Don't really 'do' the chocolate thing but MrsW does so I know what you'te talking about bigman

Teddy Tired-Eyes here. I was at a meeting last week and apparently the other people around the table were taking bets no how long it would be before I fell of my chair as my head kept nodding - and I thought I hid it so well!!!

Well done to Noah for being such a clever little boy.

Hope everyone is doing ok, hugs and love to those that need them - Bagpuss, hope you're feeling better soon.

Early nights are the best. Me, I had the best night's sleep, not even waking when Mr P's alarm went off 6am, now that is rare!

As for Noah sleeping through, it's magical and yes, the rushing in to see if he's ok, and of course he is!

Looking forward to a girlie pub lunch today with best friend, gotta drive but hey lots of chatter, gossip and catching up - luv it!

Bit overcast here but not raining.............at the moment!! It ain't gonna stay that way, that's for sure.

I went to bed a 9:00 on Sunday as I was cream crackered and had been suffering with really bad hayfever all day. Next thing I knew it was 6:45 - wonderful.

Madi - when I was in my teens, my best friend's parents were both much much older than everyone else's parents, as she was a "late in life accident". When we were 15 her eldest bro was an ancient 38.

Sadly now, she has no parents left as they died when she was in her 30s.

Ah, Christophe...an early night...we just HAD to watch the new Torchwood last eve...both of us (him having got up v early to return from forn climes...well, Wales...indeed the home of Torchwood, but they weren't anywhere near Cardiff so...) having decided that we probably wouldn't quite manage to stay awake til 10...then realising at 945 it was proberly gonna be a TWO PARTER!!! We could have watched it on listen again or wotever it's called. The new fangled watch it another day thingamabob. Dammit.

Anyhoo, straight to bed at 1015, then had a really restless night. Apparently here be Thunder.

Dee- you make the assumption that my friend is the Mum to be... he's actually going to be the Dad. Still quite old for a first child but he's young at heart, fit as a fiddle and to be honest I don't think he would have been ready for a child before now. I'm going to be nearly 42 when I have my baby later this year so I guess I'm an old Mum to be too

    Morning Big Chhief CLP

I did exactly the same as your good selves last night.

Myself and LovesYoungDream - flat out on the couch last night and at 930 could take it no more.

LYD made her way up the stairway to heaven and I followed with the obligatory water bottles shortly afterwards. A long weekend of BBQs, entertaining, chat & late nights had taken their tole.

Fresh and well this moring, though I wouldnt say no to another couple of hours . . .

Thanks again for the reports around the weekend - as a major car fan, it was as close to heaven as I reckon I'll ever get -without actually getting behind the wheel of one of those classics. . .

    Thank you so much,

    DtM

  • Comment number 28.

    Morning all!

CLP - even a non-car-lover like me has enjoyed your blogs over the last few days!

and that first sleep through the night is very odd, i agree! have done that rush into the room to check they are breathing thing myself and they just lie there laughing at you!!

I always SAY I am going to have early nights but it always ends up being 11pm at least before I make it! then if i have a good book on the go it's fatal -sometimes I think I should restrict reading to the weekends and holidays!!

there are things to be said for having kids at any age - I think you give them different things if you are older/younger. My only worry is that if people are lots older (eg mothers who have them by IVF at 60) the kids will have lost their parents when they are quite young adults. At 42 I still think I would be young to lose one of mine now! And Lyndy - 42 isn't old these days!!! (except when you have to run in the mother's race at sports day like i'm going to have to tomorrow!!)

i'm not sure that i've expressed that terribly well now i've read it back but hopefuly it will make sense to some of you!!

    love Cornishgirlie

  • Comment number 29.

    Good Morning All

I too had 'older parents' but what you gain from them is up to you.

I can't really see that there is a right age to have a baby....... young mothers do not have the patience for their babies whilst older mums perhaps tire easily. All that really matters is that the child is needed and loved by their family.

Having said that a full nights sleep really does make allllll the difference.

  • Comment number 30.

Can I add I have young parents - they are turning 50 this year - and they were grandparents at 40 - they can apprecaite their grandchildren at their age and have many years together with us kids all left home.

The downside is that when I am ouot with my dad occasionally people have thought we were dating!

Morning all, was last night the night if early nights?? I turned off the light at 9:30 last night and was pushing zeds not long after that. Woke up briefly at 4:30am to the sound of the rain pouring outside, then back to the land of nod till after 8. RESULT!!

Re the whole older parents thing, my dad was 52 when I was born, and took early retirement when I was at primary school, which meant he was always free to take me to school etc. He passed away when I was 21 and in my penultimate year of Uni, it's horrible to lose a parent at that age (and at any age) so he has missed a lot of my life (iam 29 now). But hey, as scantily said there's never a right age to have a child, think in the case of my parents it was once they had met the right person.

Right off to to food shopping, what can I have for tea tonight?

Choc in bed? Bad Christoph - very bad !!!

Heard from your BM yet Lyndy? Now he's holding his little bundle of joy?

Hello all, just watching the torrential downpour outside, glad to be in here, even if it is work!!

My parents were in their mid-30's when I was born (10 years after my brother) which, I think, was quite old at the time. As many of you know, I lost my lovely mum last year, and dad has just turned 70. It must be hard to lose a parent at any age, as has been said, but I wish I'd come along a bit sooner so I could have them for longer!

CLP, a good night's sleep does wonders, doesn't it!

Also CLP, glad all the cars came 'ome safely.... shame though about the burnt out clutch on the F40... probally 7 ter 10k for a new one!!!!!!!
Reminds me of my Lotus a used ter ave.... very similar ter the F40 except the Lotus 1350kg.... the F40 1100kg... so lighter and on top of that.... 349bhp on me Lotus.... against 470 or iz it 479bhp for the F40???
(What's 9bhp between car discussions!!!) The fact that both cars ave a V8 twin turbo makes them very similar but the lighter weight of the F40 and extra power from it's BIGGER turbos iz what gives it that extra acceleration.... Lotus 0-60 4.5/ 0-100 10.5 but the F40 faster at 0-60 3.8/ 0-100 8.6 and racing versions even faster!!!!!!!!!@!!!@! (soz all ter bore all with the in depth crudentials of the cars in question)
I'd love ter ave a go of an F40!!!!
A nearly burnt the clutch out on me Lotus accelerating too fast!!!! A used ter practice accelerating 0 ter 100/ 120 az fast az a could.... love the feeling of driving such a powerful car!!!! (PS Noot on the public roads of course) Still slow though, compared to an F1 car!!!!!
A admit a was nervous when a first bought the Lotus az i'd never owned such a powerful car!!!
It's good though ter be respectful to such cars... probally why ave never 'ad an accident or INDEED nearly 'ad one az a always drive safely/ within the limits of the car and the road conditions!!!!!
A found a goot used ter the Lotus and found it abit slow..... felt a needed more power!!! Proved to mesen maybe a am capable of driving a proper racing car.... sure i'd get used to it!!!!! Just wish a 'ad the money ter race!!!! Mind you wouldn't be fit enough ter drive in F1.... need ter build up neck!!!! Soz sound like a sad dreamer know, sorry now!!!!
Used ter arrive 'ome sometimes with smoke coming off me brakes and a burning smeeeell from the clutch.... time ter ease off before it burns out!!!!! Which brings me back ter the clutch going on the F40.... easily done!!!!
Although a get the feeling it's noot driving fast that burnt it out at the Drivetime drive!!!!! LOL!!!

Soz ter go on about me Lotus but ter me this waz a total dream.... sad but when yer don't ave alotta money ter get such a car waz amazing ter me.... i'll never forget the experience and 'opefully if things come good in the future, i'd defo buy another!!!!!
Just shame i'll never prove me racing talent, deep inside a think a ave!!!!!
Don't mean ter sound egotistical or a sad dreamer but it's 'ard ter live with when yer think yuv gotta 'idden talents but can't realise it!!!!
It's like golf.... only 500 quid for a good setta clubs but a 'aven't goot the full talent with golf... am awesome with putting/ short game but can't get the swing correct!!!!!! VERY frustraiting!!!!
Typical am a total natural at driving but it's 400k for a season in touring cars or millions for F1!!!!!!
Trust me ter pick the most expensive sport when am from a council 'ouse single parent family.... story of me DAMN life all!!!!!!!!

Seriously though.... soz ter talk too much about cars.... or INDEED meself.... sounds so bad, ain't it!!!!!!!
The important bit ere/ iz/ waz ter raise money for children..... and INDEED Children In Need!!!!!!
Great that nearly 'alf a million waz raised from all the Dine And Disco/ Mag 7 Drive...... worth every penny just ter see Jono S 'it the decks on the disco!!!!!!
A tryed ter bid mesen for a place but couldn't afford the going rate.... so just gave what a could instead ter the C.I.N radio marathon!!!!!

PS - Did the Nigel Bardon get through the event without any injuries?????? LOL!!! If so.... 'ow come???

PS CLP - A notice the Coburn noot white!!!!! AYE!!!
My advice.... CLP why noot pop inter 'alfords and get a few tins of Ford Diamond White spray????@??? It could be the world's only Ford White Coburn!!!!!!Glad ter off 'elpful advice!!!!!
A once sprayed the bumpers of me black 900cc Fiat Panda silver.... loooked wild!!!!!! Used ter deliver pizzas in it!!!!

PPS CLP - Also a notice in the photos of the Coburn.... the rear loooks very unlike yer typical Ferrari but like an MG RV8/ Roadster but more so like the RV8!!!
Goot me thinking.... wonder if MG copied the design of the Coburn California abit?????? Interesting observations don't yer wreckon CLP????

    GOURANGA ALL CAR ENTHUSIASTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PPPPS Finally... one final thing a need answers too..... if there were 7 couples driving the magnificent 7..... and you CLP were on the drive too..... what were you driving.... yer F430????????
If so i'd call it more mag 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS An update on me mother..... she's outta 'ospital and at 'ome.... loooking and INDEED feeling alot better!!!!!!!!
Although she's on oxygen and steriods ter 'elp improve the smokers disease she's suffering from!!!!!!

Sh'es given up smoking so a good sign and 'opefully many years ahead for 'er!!!!!!!

In fact it waz 'er 66th Birthdee on Sundee!!!!!!!!!!!
