Welcome and Congratulations. We are all delighted that you could make it. Getting here wasn't easy. In fact, we think it was a lot tougher than you realize.

To begin with, for you to be here now, trillions of drifting atoms had to somehow assemble in an intricate and curiously obliging manner to create you. Mmm - it's a shame CE could't keep his commitment to the very talented young writers (500 words) at the Hay Festival. We've had weeks of him wittering on about the impending birth - I guess we'll be treated to a minute by minute description of the new addition growing up each morning now - not to mention the 2 weeks paternity leave that he'll be taking, in addition to the two weeks holiday he takes every 6-8 weeks.. All that holiday, and a handsome pay cheque for someone who works 3 hours a day - perhaps it's time to spend more time serving your listeners, rather than filling each breakfast show with details of your family, your cars, your money, your golf ... and all the other things us mortals strive so hard for....
