Outstanding win for Lacey at NTAs
EastEndersÌýmay wellÌýhave lent the Most Popular Serial Drama gong toÌýCorrie for a bit, and Neil McDermottÌýmay have narrowly missed out on Most Popular Newcomer, but Lacey deservedly bagged silverware at the 2009 .
Lacey arrived at the ceremony fashionably late with her sis, Daisy,Ìýin tow. SheÌýbriefly had time to warm her seat before it was announced that she'd beaten the other nominees in the Outstanding Serial Drama Performance category. What a trooper!
Over the past year Stacey has cried more times than Simon Cowell's dished out insults. It's been a toughie. Lacey's biggest storyline has beenÌýdealing with theÌýdiagnosis of Bipolar disorder, where she's shared dramatic scenes with fellow actress, Gillian Wright (Jean). In theÌýyoung beauty'sÌýacceptance speech, sheÌýgave a special shout out to Gillian which was actually very touching. Not that my bottom lip quivered at all.

Gutted EastEnders didn't get the NTA but oh well, you guys have won plenty of awards for 2009 and I'm sure 2010 has many more to come. EastEnders is after all the Nations biggest and best soap!

I never watch Corrie and I was even tempted by their trailer of future episodes! I am a huge Eastenders fan, but with the Corrie ads in the NTA awards, it confused me as a viewer as they were putting so much emphasis on Corrie that I thought they had actually won, even though the phone lines were still open.
I hope the Ö÷²¥´óÐã will do something about this, as we all know that Eastenders is definitely no.1 in the public's eyes. Weren't the NTA awards the ones who also caused controversy in previous years, by giving Ant and Dec an award without allowing viewers to vote? I think its credability is going downhill as it was clearly used to market ITV programmes e.g. X factor had a lot of associations in that programme. We need these Award shows to be objective, as viewers are the judges who make or break these programmes. The awards shows need to be impartial of any tv channel hosting them. Well done to Lacey Turner though, as she truly deserved the award for her portrayal of a character suffering from BP Disorder, and Eastenders for tackling such issues, which Corrie do not cover.
