So, how about tonight ? As far as I can see there are no football matches or tennis or whatever other sporting events to disrupt the normal scheduling of Eastenders, why can't we have our usual Friday Eastenders tonight ??

  • Comment number 2.

@ rely: there is football on itv tonite., i suppose they think that if footie is on, no-one will want to watch eastenders. silly really if you think that england are out

To 'jivingj': I suppose you're right, although I meant on Ö÷²¥´óÐã, not ITV; surely not all licence payers are football fans anyway (or sports fans for that matter) and we're also entitled to what we like, aren't we ? I am always very disappointed whenever my favourite soap episodes are being re-scheduled. I think that whenever that is about to happen, they should make sure that a special viewing is available on Ö÷²¥´óÐãiplayer during that same slot thus offering viewers a choice to either watch whatever else has been re-scheduled on the EE slot or watch EE away from Ö÷²¥´óÐã1, on Ö÷²¥´óÐã I player. As we all know the EE episodes were filmed like half a year before they are actually broadcast, so Ö÷²¥´óÐã doesn't have the excuse of not having an episode available or whatever...... I don't know anything about how this is technically possible but I am sure it can be made to happen if someone really put their mind to it and cared... :-(

isn't strange that when there are two games of football on at the same time and the bbc are covering them then they show them both on bbc1 and use either 3 or 4 for the other one,but they don't do this for eastenders?

by the way i'd LOVE to know the viewing figures for bbc3 & 4 !!!!
and don't forget this from a company that WE pay for and if you don't.....they take you to court and you could go to jail ....bahhh !!!!

  • Comment number 5.

There wasn't a game on the 2nd July because as I see it, England could've been playing that night, therefore they've changed the schedule in advance to compensate anything England did.
If they'd come top of the group, they would've played Ghana in next round and then Uruguay, which was on, on Friday.
This is what i would've presumed.

  • Comment number 6.

All these schedule changes are really getting a tad tedious now. I really look forward to watching eastenders and just think the men have there football so let them watch it on another channel or put eastenders on bbc 2 or on later.
    Thanks x

  • Comment number 7.

we do not need times and days its on

  • Comment number 8.

    @relay...again...

  • Comment number 12.

england may be out but if you vote for eastenders they wont be so vote eastender fans, vote vote vote....

  • Comment number 13.

Thank you Ö÷²¥´óÐã for changing the schedule of Eastenders. I'm a passionate (Dutch) fan of Eastenders, but I also like football. Now I can have it all!

  • Comment number 14.

To be honest it is VERY annoying that eastenders is constantly shifted around to cater for various sporting events if it was a sport i enjoyed ie formula one or snail racing it would not be so bad but is the 21st century aint it? and wthere are motre bbc staions than bbc one so why cant we loose ready steady cook or somin else that mostly on two etc

i doubt there will be anything that will grab my interest on bbc 2 or three tonight so wht cant it simply be shown on another station????? i dont beleive the whole country is football nuts and tonight we have an animal prog in it's place not!! that i have anyhing against that its better than football and i do allot for animal welfare

i eagerly await enders returning to its set time on each evening though may start watching corrie more i think seems to be less affected by the cup etc.

  • Comment number 15.

To be honest, i think the schedule changes are helpful, and although akward to look what day eastenders is next on, it means i don't have to fight for the tv or wait for it to come on iplayer. i like watching the football and eastenders, and i appreciate the moves so that i can watch both. thank you bbc :)

  • Comment number 16.

this is getting annoying now when are ther stopping it

  • Comment number 17.

i dont find this fair what has fotball gt that eastenders havent its totaly rubish i cant wait till the football is over!!!

  • Comment number 18.

I THINK EASTENDERS SHOULD BE ON AT WEEKENDS, theres never anything else good on now , also it should be on everyday, 7:30 till 8 :):):), EE FOREVERR X

  • Comment number 19.

I don't particularly mind, it speeds up the Chryed blackhole!! Lol! ;-)

  • Comment number 20.

What an episode it has been tonight? Has Lucas killed again or has Lucas walked away thinking he has killed his wife, exiting stuff cant wait to see what's to come next. Where are the Mahsood's we want them back and we definitely want Priya Kalidas back for more, come on Ö÷²¥´óÐã think of something good. Bring the Mahsood's and Priya back for some more exiting episodes and a much better thought of story line. Thank You ;)

Shocked at what looks like Denise's (Diane Parish) exit from EastEnders, and the violent manner of her demise, I am still reeling and grief struck for characters Libby, Chelsea, Jordan, and Patrick, and outraged at Luca! Denise’s on screen husband, Lucas (Don Gilet), has become such a vile character, and now with this attack on audience-wide loved Denise, I hope that all viewers can separate fiction from real life and not take any reprisals against actor, Don Gilet. – I’ve wanted to throttle ‘Lucas’ a few times myself!

    - Just one straw of hope that I am clinging on to, though perhaps it is unrealistic - I read in the episode synopsis for Monday (12/07/10) that it is Lucas that identifies Denise's body. Maybe in his unhinged state of mind he believes that it is her, but in 'reality' it is someone else’s cadaver, and Denise has managed to escape and is off somewhere else suffering from amnesia after her harrowing ordeal at Lucas's hands, and will reappear at a later date to be reunited with her family (after Lucas has been convicted of the murder(s), including poor Sugar's, his son Jason’s dog) to the joy and relief of everyone, The Square and audience alike! - But that is maybe too much to ask. -

Then again, if it is that actress, Diane Parish, has chosen to leave due to other commitments (family, career development), and won't be coming back, then I wish her well and thank her for her brilliant portrayal of 'Denise' over the past few years, and wish her all the best for the future!

On another tack I am sad to read that young actor, Charlie Jones, who has done a marvellous job in his role of Ben Mitchell, Phil's son, will be leaving EastEnders. I honestly can't see the Beebe’s logic in this, especially as it is rumoured that they already intend to bring the character back at a later date, but with a different actor.

Also talented actress, Melissa Suffield, is to similarly leave the series, though her onscreen character Lucy Beale is not to be chopped, and another actress is to take over Melissa's role.

Seemingly new EastEnders producer Bryan Kirkwood has swept in wielding the fresh broom, and the show has insisted: "It's common practice to recast actors employed as children to take on more challenging adult storylines."

Well, Mr Kirkwood, I am sure that there are a lot of viewers out there, who have been with EastEnders much longer than you have, who would certainly disagree with you on this in the cases of Melisa and Charlie, and I take this opportunity of thanking both of them for their marvellous work over the past years, and wish them all the best and great happiness for the future, in their career development and in their lives in general! [And many thanks to All at EastEnders for twenty-five years of great drama and entertainment!]

I knew the Ö÷²¥´óÐã would water down the Lucas story because of recent real events. The reason given it would upset families involved.
If you switch your tv on you can see people being murdered 24/7, so why Eastenders is changing its storyline is baffling.
If a loved one of mine was murdered, the last thing I would be worried about is a TV prog.
But I am enjoying the Lucas storyline, no doubt Libby will get her Columbo mac on and sort it out.
The next bad guy has a hard act to follow.

  • Comment number 23.

i stopped watching eastenders yesterday .find the plot absurd .sorry
you,ve gone way too far with the idiot lucas . wish you luck with the
series though. have a good weekend

  • Comment number 24.

After watching Friday eastenders (9th July) I wont be watching anymore of that awful story line with Lucas killing everyone! Its too violent and I think the writers have gone on some sort of mission to make it as dark as possible. Me and my family have been watching for years and reckon its time to switch off when Eastenders comes on.

  • Comment number 25.

I wish the Ö÷²¥´óÐã would go back to the regular schedule. I missed all episodes during the 1st of 2nd week because I was either too late, or it moved to a different day...and then I missed half of the Sunday-repeat...
In the Netherlands we have several channels and for those who couldn't care less about soccer they have scheduled a British detective/police series on NL 1...for instance Dalziel & Pesco.
Of course I will watch the game to night...and hope we will win. But this will be the first game I will watch. Wouldn't have given up Eastenders for soccer...

  • Comment number 26.

why do you continue to remove tuesday night eastenders showing?? There's nothing on bbc on tuesday evenings as it is and now eastenders isnt being played there's no point in having bbc on

  • Comment number 27.

I am Eastenders biggest fan - I love the characters, and was a bit upset when Ronnie took Kat's baby, but after thinking about it, her father sexually abused her and got rid of her baby, so this must have had some bearing on what she did when she swopped babies, this even would have unhinged me although I've never been in that situation. You must be congratulated on the portrayal of the Eastenders' characters and the storyline, it's all so believable as opposed to other soaps on TV. Well done Ö÷²¥´óÐã
