I really hope the swap doesn't last long, not beyond the funeral. It will totally ruin Ronnie's character and that is such a shame. She has been so endearing and great to watch these last few weeks. I would hate to see Ronnie ruined and Sam leave EE.

I have read that there is a petition to stop the storyline of the baby cot death with Kat & Ronnie been aired on the tv. Apparently mothers are angry about this storyline to air soon and are starting facebook pages against the storyline. I think it is important for issues such as this to be raised on a programme like Eastenders as it can bring the awareness to peoples attention.

I don't agree with the baby swapping so I can understand mothers been angry with this. But, I do think is very important to raise a sensitive subject such as cot death.

Really don't like the stealing baby storyline

EastEnders have completely lost the plot. You can't keep getting rid of ronnies kids just for a good storyline. The writers have run out of ideas!

I totally understand the mothers of children who have died of cot death and the rest of the viewers who are upset about this. The baby swap is such a huge mistake. Portraying a sensitive issue like cot death is great and EE should not shy away from it. But EE are taking the most tragic and upsetting thing that can ever happen in a person鈥檚 life (their child dying) and sensationalising it by taking it to such an over the top level that it actually becomes ridiculous. They should stop the hypocrisy of pretending and justifying this as EE portraying real life issues and supposedly raising awareness about cot death.
If they wanted to do that, than they should have just done a plain cot death, like Sue Osman鈥檚 storyline in the very early days. It was such a powerful storyline, without any ludicrous subplots like the baby swap. Julia Smith created EE to portray real life issues not make up things that don鈥檛 even happen. If that is the way they are going than they should be honest about it not go out of the way to explain why something like this happens.
EE want to come up with something outrages, something to top off whatever storyline they have done in the past and that is why they have gone with a baby swap. That has got nothing to do with reality. No mother will leave her dead child behind, not even someone who has lost three children in 20 months, which in itself is ridiculous.

I'm wondering if eastenders writers and the bbc bosses have any idea how insulting this babyloss storyline is? As the mother of a baby that is not with me, i am appauled and frankly disgusted that they thought this route would be the right one.
I completely agree that these topics are usually shunned and considered tabboo, but come on, don't you think the mother of a dead baby has enough to deal with, without people thinking she is now going to turn into a babysnatching nutter in a flash?...I don't know about others, but after i lost my baby, i couldn't even look at another, nevermind contemplate wanting someone elses.

I think they should change the storyline quickly! ronnie shouldnt have any more bad storylines, its annoying, viewers got annoyed when they killed off danielle, maybe it could be better if we see how ronnie would be as a mother rather than kill of any child she has.?

Lets hope Samantha Womack receives an award for her upcoming performace as a woman who finds her childs lifeless body. Wish the scriptwriters would let Ronnie have a few happy years, since she joined she has been through alot of trauma. Both Sam and Jessie are great actors and that is why this storyline has been given because they can draw you into the emotions of what their characters are going through.

It's a great story line, but i can understand how some people are a little upset. But it is life,to be honest it does happen and i think there just probally trying to get the message across to people.

Personally, I find the whole Cot Death/baby swap storyline appalling as its meant to be a family show that everyone can sit down to watch. I find it far from entertaining. Fair enough if Ronnies baby was too die (if it gives awarness etc.) but the fact she swaps it and viewers see the dead tot, is too OTT.

Think it is important to raise awareness about cot death but don't agree with the child swap and won't be watching it purely because I know I just won't be able to handle watching it without being an emotional reck. I know its not how soaps work but I would love to see them both happy with their babies. People like to watch happy endings as well especially when the characters really deserve some happiness.

To be honest I think everyone is sick of ronnie's life in eastenders being distraught all the time. Why can't you just allow for something beautiful to happen to her and allow her the happiness in raising her son. However it looks like e story lines are already filmed and set to hit our screens and yet again bring more sadness for poor Ronnie! To be honest the story line for her is just getting a little bit boring now and would be nice for Ronnie to have some happiness in e soap. Ahhh well does not look like eastenders will be getting soap of the year this year :(

I feel so sorry for Ronnie!!! She doesn't deserve this to happen to her again, however i can see it from the writers side,becoz if she did have the baby they'll be nothing to her character becoz thats all she wants and i think this is an fantastic storyline which i think eastenders should atleast have a litle bit of credit for.....
I hope this storyline will get an award or maybe Ronnie will get best actress....

Don't they remember how people hated the Danielle storyline? I do love EE, but WHY do they always have to stoop to the most miserable plot they can think of? here's one - Ronnie and Jack go to middle east where he works for a while, when she has her baby in real life. Really, while we do know that this is just a TV drama, dead babies is not a nice topic. I'll be back in a week or two when this has blown over. Also, I feel a bit sorry for the actress having to play this role when she is expecting in real life.

I think its horrible that Eastenders is killing Ronnie's baby, we hear about baby's dying all the time in the papers and on the news, why do we have to watch it in the soaps too? Me & my family won't be watching Eastenders when that happens.

i'm sorry, but i think that punishing Ronnie over & over again is plain sick; it's telling every1 out there that once ur down & out, ur always down & out!!!

I totally think killing Ronnie's baby is a wrong storyline, it can affect many viewers. Its probably going to hit everyone though when they watch it. I feel ever so sorry for her though she never gets what she wants. Eastenders is awsome, but i swear that Walford has been cursed for christmas and new years, because someone either leaves or dies! never a haapy xmas or new years.

What a wonderful opportunity completely missed by Eastenders.

Babyloss, including stillbirth and neonatal death, affects 17 familes every. single. day. That's Christmas Day, New Year's, Valentines Day and all of the other 'normal' days in between. In fact cot death alone doesn't reach these figures. It's a taboo subject and one that must be brought out into the light, so those, like me, who grieve the children who have died can speak openly in a society that still prefers to believe these things just don't happen and shouldn't be discussed.

Those who lose children at whatever age know the true depths of grief, and yes, grief can make you think, do and say terrible things, but in my experience and in the experience of those too many others who have lost their babies, we would never 'swap' our child; we just want our babies, not anyone else's. To add this ridiculous slant can only add to the despair we feel that society views us all as mad grieving women rather than those who are sad, and feel deeply while our arms remain empty.

It's just too far.

If anyone has been affected by loss or neonatal death, I would encourage you to seek out SANDS, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. For those seeking advice on risks of cot death, the FSID site is invaluable. For those of us who are grieving and are hurt by the storyline planned, no matter how well acted, our recourse is the OFF button for the duration of this storyline.

Eastenders is the best soap, and all the cast are such brilliant actresses and actors. It gets messages across really well, especialy now there doing about cot death, they handle the problems really well...

As a big fan of Eastenders I was so disappointed when I heard how this storyline would pan out. I fear the show will lose alot of credibility if they go ahead with it. I feel also for the parents of these lost children. How are they supposed to sit through this unrealistic and ridiculous story in the name of 'entertainment' when it clearly has no relevance to real life. I am ashamed of Eastenders as it has always prided itself on dealing with difficult subjects sensitively but I think it may have gone way too far this time.

I am disgusted by this storyline. Had EE covered a cot death story with the tact and dignity it deserves then it would have provided hundreds of bereaved parents out there something to identify with whilst providing the rest of us with an insight into what these parents are going through. It could have been an excellent opportunity to educate people on cot death but instead its turned into a farce.
I am blessed to be a mum to 3 and have not experienced this kind of bereavement first hand but I have seen a friend go through the loss of a child and stories like this could not be further from the truth.
I have decided not to watch for the duration of this ridiculous story and hope that EE realise the harm they are doing by giving it air time.

I almost stopped watching eastenders after being put through a long drawn out Danielle plot for a very dissapointing ending. Well the current storyline means the end of eastenders for me, I refuse to watch any more.

Many of you right. There is no happiness in this serious. We're just hoping we've seen one, and the other minute it is spoiled. I don't understand the story line anymore :-/ I don't give up hope, anyway, but It's a bit boring these days :-(

Eastenders have done a cot death story before but a long time ago back in the early days of the show when Sue and Ali Osman lost their little boy. Not enough was known about then, this has to be hilighted to help others but also not to offend those who are greiving. They have consulted the right organisations and have done their research to tackle this subject. But it would be nice For Ronnie to have some happy times in her life, that was her wedding day to Jack. I agree with Eafan, Bradleymum, henniker,Ally 1097,donnymum, madonna5,and all the other people disappointed with the storyline. It seams to me EE is going to lose viewers as they try to outdo themselves and other soaps with over the top stupid storylines. I have watched EE all my life but was so disappointed at the death of Daniel, Ronnie's miscarriage,list goes on and on. I think if EE decied to be a little nicer to the character's they would get more viewers, unfortunately all these comments all the uproar will only make them more determined to do it!! :( My husband doesn't understand why i watch EE he says its the most depressing thing on tv and now I have to agree with him. I am glad there are so many people out their disappointed with this storyline and that they might be questioning if they want to continue with EE esp if it is all death and dispare!

Well done East Enders. The story writers give the public another cheery night of entertainment, this will do little to kick off my new year with a bang. In fact it has the potential of becoming a depressingly gloomy storyline for the next few months, so I will have to opt out!

Isn't it bad enough the writers drag up old characters, which must be far easier to write for (lazy and unimaginative) rather than creating new and more interesting characters every once and a while. The current cast of actors and actresses seem lost, they wonder around aimlessly from bit roles to pointless plots. Occasionally, you see glimpses of a potential great storyline, but it fizzles away.

I hope the Eastender writers realise that entertainment doesn鈥檛 have to be a great long list of cringing story lines, just so the 主播大秀 can add the 鈥淚f you have been effected by this 鈥︹��.

Multiple Killings, attempted murders, aiding killers to escape the law, law breaking of all kinds including paedophilia, incest, rape, theft by young and old alike, selling knock off and stolen goods, assault, husband and wife affairs, scheming and dishonesty. Please offset your storylines by at least demonstrating that Eastenders are also proud, honest and above all friendly and caring people who do have fun and love life?

I think the Ronnie and Kat story line is great. It's a good way to raise awareness of cot death. People saying it's all an over reaction, and eastenders should not proceed with the storyline. It's a fictional tv program, it HAS to over exaggerated, and unrealistic, in some aspects otherwise it'd be boring and no one would watch it! Take for instance the whole, Phil Mitchell on crack burning down the Vic scenario, that was unrealistic, but everyone loved it. Eastenders writers should carry on this with this storyline, it's really good.


And i love the idea of Syed and Christain starting a a family.

i have watched eastenders for years but will not be watching it for a while over the story line coming up about ronnie and kat although it's a soup the storyline is very real to many people including myself my son died 11 years ago next week and it is a hard enough time besides a t.v show bring back memories. it is a terrible way to get ratings and i know alot of my family and friends won't be watching. it is a terrible storyline to start the year off and hope people avoid the show to show there support to parents who have lost babies and children to this unexplainable cause of death.

Don't like Ronnie's storyline either. So much heartache for her. I don't think I've seen her happy for longer than a day at a time. A bit more positive storylines please.

Julie - yes they did consult the right organisations but even they are saying they had no part in the planning of how this storyline will pan out. Their stand is this "FSID had no involvement in the planning or adoption of the 'baby-swap' plotline.The behaviour and actions of Ronnie Mitchell are in no way 'endorsed' by FSID as a typical, or even likely, reaction of a bereaved parent"



Anne we are complaining because bereaved parents are being portrayed as nutters, and no attempt is being given to show how a mother really reacts and how life really is when a baby dies in real life. And no, I won't be watching it - or for a long long while. My husband has taken it off series link. Our own daughter's death is still to raw to watch even a fictional baby die, especially when its being sensationalised like this.

It's a crying shame what happens to Ronnie's baby, i really feel for her ... after losing Danielle and having a miscarriage and then having another baby die of cot death ... you just really feel for her!

As a long time fan of EE I`m really annoyed with this storyline about Ronnie. I just feel EE is going downhill by scraping the barrel with this story.
They`ve ruined characters who I liked such as Shirley by turning her into a thief & Pat by making suddenly her looking stupid by letting her fall for Janine`s lies, in the past she`s always sussed Janine out.
Then we have fake Lauren & fake Ben. If only we could get rid of Bryan Kirkwood. Diederick Santer was bad enough bringing back Bianca, Ricky & Janine. Pointless characters.

Neither me or the rest of my family do not think that they should of killed off Ronnie's baby, we think that it is the worst storyline ever!!!! Why did it have to happen this way with poor Ronnie getting the bad situation again since she has already lost Danielle and her other child. We think neither babies should of been killed off!!!

Also we feel that the storyline was not thought through as many other people have been complaining about it aswell as us.

I'm not very happy with Eastenders recently. Ronnie should be a happy character not a unhappy one with a loss of 2 children. Ronnie should have another baby in February 2011 and it should live. But I think Ronnie should give Kat's baby back as its horrible. It's Kat and Alfie's first baby together but Ronnie takes tommy away. Give him back you bitch! EastEnders quality has gone down alot now!

Just watched the programme and whilst we are all used to the catastrophes in soaps the subject tonight, new years eve, was simply horrible. Anyone who enjoyed such misery needs help. Apart from that.
, as a grandparent I have to say Charlie has let the side down really badly. Just awful and depressing, thank goodness 2010 is over.

After this week i was really hoping that this story would have been cut. It is a disgrace. I am 19, i have no children and yet the thought of this is such a fear as i have had a friend who lost her baby to cot death and to portray it to show people what can happen is an amazing advantage that this programme has, but to continuously destroy this character, and to create a barbaric story line such as her stealing Kats baby is disgusting. I love eastenders and would much prefer to watch it rather than other soaps and for once i am totally unhappy and completely unsatisfied with this story. I can bet your bottom dollar that women who have been through this have turnt over in the fear of remembering this horrible, heart destroying time.

i am so disapointed in the kat n ronnie storey line think it was out of order no consideration has gone into it for parents who have lost chilldren so young and also think it was the wrong time of year for it to be screened. made me feel sick and think of parents who have been threw that.

Why Can Ronnie Just Has A Baby That Actually Stays Alive Its Not Fair !

Todays eastenders was quite good, but I had a few problems I found abit of it unrealistic because

1) Why would they leave the backdoor / the indoor to a pub open when everyones out?

2) someone would of seen ronnie go upstairs

3) All of ronnies children died? like thats going to happen in real life...


Why couldn't they both just keep their own babies instead of killing one of them. Abit stupid to me - but thats just my opinion

It was a great show though but abit unrealistic.

tbh i think its out of order than ronnie's lost her baby after the big story with danielle and losing her too. but i guess the storyline with her swapping her's and kats baby will be interesting.

Also, I think Kat will find out, I think some how there get suspicious that ronnie took there baby and have a DNA test.
