We Love Pat

A Walford legend passes away this week.

Share your love for Pat and celebrate her best bits, her loves, her style and more at the I Love Pat app

What's going on here then?

It doesn't take a genius to read the body language. Should Ricky tell Bianca the truth? And should she forgive him?

Ìý

David's back!

Pat's eldest son, David, is back. He's hurt his ex, Carol, in the past, - should she give him a second chance? Looks like Derek doesn't think so...

Kat and Alfie have therapy

But can either of them be honest enough to save this marriage? What do you think they need to do?

And in other news...

Look who else is back. Will Christian's return burst Amira's bubble? And should Patrick own up to what he's done?

Discuss these, and anything to do with this week's EastEnders in the comments section below. Happy New Year!

aww we,re all gonna miss pat, shes very famous on eastenders for her earring! :) we wish you the best ion the future Pam! (:

  • Comment number 6.

Really disappointed with the BIG fire episode. I was hoping you would kill off quite a few stale characters. It just didn't make sense why Masood would remain in the kitchen post fire when all others walked out. Christian would have taken him out too.
You could have done so much with this episode instead what a waste of money!

  • Comment number 20.

OUTSTANDING EPISODE TONIGHT -I have to take my words back as I wrote the other day I thought tonight's episode was going to be a let down but It was brilliant this coming from a big Eastenders fan who is hard to please.I thought pat just dying in bed was going to be boring I wrote the other day they should of made her stumble in to the square when everybody is doing the countdown to new year but thinking now that would of been rubbish If know body new she was ill because she wouldn't of had her heart to heart with David or Janine.I did not expect Bianca and Ian to find out about Ricky and Mandy tonight that was good to add another story in the mix all actors were brilliant tonight I'm going to go and watch the episode again 25minutes after its just finished I think that says some think about tonight's episode.Well done Eastenders

  • Comment number 21.

so sad, will miss pat in eastenders i loved her character..why are we loosing the good ones? its characters like pat and dot that make the show good...

so well acted by pam st clement. My mum passed away in september to pancreatic cancer and she played the role with great integrity.Hope to see pam in more bbc dramas, such a lovely lady who will be sadly missed.Truly hope an award wings its way to her for so many years of pure quality.Good luck pam.xxxxxxx

  • Comment number 24.

wow what a fantastic episode, so sad, so wonderfully written, i have cried buckets, well done eastenders, especially to everyone for their excellent acting

  • Comment number 25.

excellent acting from every character tonight, Pam did an excellent job, I especially thought the dark credits made the ending with 'Pat's theme', the team must work very very hard to produce that kind of drama.

  • Comment number 26.

fantastic acting in pats farewell episode loved pat watching her over the years so sad to see her go this way will be sadly missed a much loved eastenders character lots of tears for you in our house good luck for the future pam in whatever you do x.

  • Comment number 27.

Ah pat, such a shame to see you go. RIP with Frank, your beloved. Hats off to Pam St Clement and all the cast, a brilliant episode, definately worth an award or two. Tissues by the dozen........ Cant believe its been 25 years of those colourful earrings. Nice to see David again!

  • Comment number 28.

cant believe pat's gone. my eyes are still swollen from crying and my heart is still doing the odd sob.she was an inspiration to so many as she knew her downfalls and passed on her knowledge to so many on and off the show. writers-why do you have to show the up and coming generation that mostly basically very few relationships work out. not a true reflection of life. so the less strong-minded people will just think-just give up-give into temptation. i would love you to show a more loving world- yes of course some ups and downs but not all downs as this is so sad and just puts a lot of people on a downer.im hoping(poor me)that somebody had a bad dream and pat will be 100% what do you think?

  • Comment number 29.

I'm a sap for these sorts of moments. The moments from when Wellard died, as it reminded me of a similar time to when my dog was put down. Peggy leaving, a similar time to when my best friend had moved away from me. Pat not having long to live, a similar time to my granddad. The writers of these sorts of moments need to be praised. Because what they have done is bring the memories back to me and they have shown what other members of public need to see, that life is totally different in other homes. A very emotional episode that did send me to tears. EastEnders. One hell of a soap! Pat's funeral... will that mean Peggy will be back to say goodbye? Being on the soap together for 16 years, she's got to come back for the funeral.
Pam, going to miss you and your earrings! Much love and wishing all the best to you xx

  • Comment number 30.

yh yh here somthing you can do when you play cards when you knocking DEAD NANA PAT PAT LOL but good to see david back rip pat you going to be miss

  • Comment number 31.

Wow - what an episode. Not just an emotional episode - but something to make us think too - to treasure our family and what we have, today.
Great job by all the cast and crew.
Suggestion - place Pat's earrings up for auction for Children in Need - I'd bid big time!

  • Comment number 32.

A Happy Healthy New Year to evryone on EastEnders.

I too was crying in tonight's episode, Pat showed real guts at the end as she did
in recent epiosdes regarding the cancer story. I saw how my friend's mother was
with this awful disease from December 2007 until her death October 2008. She was
terminal in 2007 and when she first went on morphine it helped her pain, she even
said she was going out with her daughter, the next day, but it never happened. She
went to the hospice Easter 2008 for 2 weeks, she was taken in her wheelchair to
the shops twice, to the hospice and after weeks in there was taken to a home
and a week later she died. Even on morphine and painkillers she'd ask for more
morphine and was never given any, it was only given at set times. It was very
sad when she died, there's only one comfort, she was no longer in pain.

I feel the same for Pat too as at least she's not suffering anymore, it was heart
wrenching to watch it in real life and to see Pat die tonight. I too will miss Pam
so much as she is a brilliant actress and only she could've played Pat. All the other
actors were brilliant too and of course all those on the production team, camera
crew, make-up, writer/s and the lovely slow version of the theme tune. I will be watching it again on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three later on.

  • Comment number 33.

i cried for the last 10 mins, it was so sad.
    may pay rest in peace
    R.I.P Pat

  • Comment number 34.

Could someone tweet me @RealAndyGibson telling me what the viewing figures of the episode that aired 1 Jan 2012 please.

  • Comment number 35.

  • Comment number 36.

some of you need to get alive yes it sad ut it just a tv programe

  • Comment number 37.

I am an occasional viewer of Eastenders but became a disciple for the last few weeks. The story lines are a craft of genius writers and seem so realistic and innovative. Loved the peak season chill and warmth and will truly miss Pat and wished have seen the series longer to enjoy her company and celebrate
her spell in the square. bravo for all the actors and prod team, Eastenders is unique for what it stands for. Happy eastenders 2012 in Albert square !!

  • Comment number 38.

I cried so much at Pat's death. I've always loved Pat. She was suffering so much at the end. :(

  • Comment number 39.

So so sad. Especially when David ran back in to Pats room to say sorry and forgive her. I began to cry when she said she didn't want to die and that she was scared. That's heart braking. She clearly wasn't ready to go. R.I.P. Pat and the very best of luck and good wishes to Pam for the future. She will be truly missed.

  • Comment number 40.

Clearly I'm in the minority as I thought Pat's dying scenes were totally unrealistic. She had far too much thick make-up and not a hair out of place. Spoilt the whole episode for me.

  • Comment number 41.

I thought it was very well done, and very realistic, brought back very vivid memories of having to say goodbye to my father, as a child.. very well acted out, and obviously pat would have make up on to look ill. cried for a good half hour..

  • Comment number 42.

what a superb ep last night. the scenes with pat and janine were particularly moving. pam st clement you are a legend and will be surely missed. congrats to everybody concerned. ee you are the Crème De La Crème. you have yet again set the bench mark, other continuing dramas take note!

  • Comment number 43.

Going to miss Pat best scene was between Pat and Janine. But wishes her and peggy could have one last laugh. cant wait to see whats going to happen now. Hope some good characters return like Sharon, Zoe, Chrissie, Ronnie, Stacey please bring some good characters back i bet Dot or Phil will go this year coming

  • Comment number 44.

I recorded the show last night and haven't sat down to watch the entire episode yet. Just whizzed through but got enough of it to realize that Peggy Mitchell wasn't at Pat's bedside - major disappointment! I would have thought that the writer's would have thought of this and that Barbara Windsor could/would/should have made time to be there. I'd have loved to see those 2 trade barbed comments once last time, even if it ended in tears of forgiveness. Will miss Pat / Pam St. Clement very much though and wish her all the best for her endeavors in the future. Pat was a real "Mensch", human; warts and all - I really enjoyed her character over the years.

  • Comment number 45.

I too was disappointed Barbara Windsor/ Peggy Mitchell didn't make an appearance at pats bedside!

  • Comment number 49.

I loved that little scene between Michael and Morgan, Michael totally hot owned by Tiffany though.

  • Comment number 50.

in the program farewell pat aired on 2/1/2012 does anyone know the first song played after the intro ??

  • Comment number 51.

Get rid of ben noone likes him :| .. and noone wants phil to go to jail.. so played out its getting old.. so sad about pat :(..

  • Comment number 52.

Eastenders Site might wanna start editing the character page. Yusef and Pat are no longer in it, nor is Poppy.
And the Death Chart on 'games' needs ALOT of updating. The last recorded death on it is Bradley. Since then, we've had Yusef, Pat, Billie Jackson, Lydia Simmonds and Rob Grayson

  • Comment number 53.

R.I.P Pat I am going to miss her EastEnders will never be the same without her watch the farewell pat tonight well done over the years you have give us Pat Funeral Next that will be sad episode too. that episode airs on Friday 13th January With a 40 mins episode from 8pm. Good luck Pam St Clement for the Future.

  • Comment number 54.

On last night's show(Monday 02/01) what was the 'big secret 'that Janine revealed?
If it was about the termination, didn't Michael aleady know she intended to do , or have I missed something.
When did Mandy sleep with Ricky? have missed a few eps recently.

  • Comment number 55.

wow what a dramatic week ayy

  • Comment number 56.

what about barbrer windor comes back for one night - the funereul or maybe she could come back later on phil or ben could ring her

  • Comment number 57.

    lilmissy2012 i totally agree

  • Comment number 58.

I wish we could have some comedy and not to much sadnesses.
Will pay get a Julia's theme?

  • Comment number 59.

I'll really miss pat it won't be the same without her

  • Comment number 60.

Not being a huge fan of eastenders i still watch it as my mum loves. We both agree that pats death was an anti climax, poorly acted, bad script,it was like it wasn't rehearsed enough,i can't believe these so called actors are paid for such awful acting, real acting is when you can't even tell they're acting but pats death was just awful,no thought put into it whatsoever, and the fire was even worse, how they get awrds for such bad acting i don't know,it doesn't even represent the real eastend, with cardboard actors, please please try and put more effort into your programme,u can almost see the set it's that bad

  • Comment number 61.

GET OVER YOURSELF ITS A TV PROGRAME

  • Comment number 62.

i am a great fan of eastenders and think that their storylines are very true to life.
the latest episode of Pat's exit was really well put together. her character will be sorely missed!.

  • Comment number 63.

Sad to see Pat go but lovely to have David Wicks back.
Come on Chryed, burst deluded Amira's bubble, kiss and make up !

  • Comment number 64.

I don't Want pat to go.

  • Comment number 65.

aww, bless alfie. only trying to do something good! shane richie and jessie wallace r so good actor/actress! xxx

  • Comment number 66.

gotta saay, id love syed and amira to get back together!!

  • Comment number 67.

personally, amira is getting on my nerves now. i want amira to accept that christian and syed love eachover inside, but she's never gonna give up, im guessing. Oh well, Eastenders is doing very well so well so far this year and its only been 5 days ;)

  • Comment number 68.

haha pc marsden is bk phils in trouble!

that scene with amira, syed, and christian in the pub was so rubbish, amira seriously cant act(pretty girl though)

  • Comment number 69.

Enjoying the return of David looks like the storyline with him and Derek is going to keep us on the edge of our seats , is David going to be staying in the show....

  • Comment number 70.

Evil Yusef was supporting Amira because his plan was to destroy the Masoods and she helped him to destroy Syed`s happiness. But she is not that bright and now, without Yusef, not everything goes the way she wants. She should be careful - she has become desperate, but Syed can become desperate as well trying to get rid of her, and then who knows what he can do. EE producers, why don`t you hire decent actors and actresses instead of just taking someone back just because their career outside EE failed miserably? Don`t tell us there`re no actresses like Pat and Peggy etc left! And I have a question - what problem did Derek have with Pat? I started watching EE just a couple of years ago, so don`t know much about all those old story lines, but I understand that Derek hates David because he made Carol pregnant when she was still very young and then he was one of those men who let her down. But does he hate Pat just because she is his mother?

  • Comment number 71.

And I have a feeling that Andrew will be involved in Heather`s death somehow - maybe he even gonna be the murderer. I was right about Phil`s stalker (wasn`t too hard to figure out!), so maybe I will be right about this one, too.

  • Comment number 72.

Why has Alfie suddenly appeared wearing a dead animal on his head? That is a disgraceful rug, totally the wrong colour and I would question if it is even real hair.

  • Comment number 73.

Haven;t watched EE for years but couldn't help but tune in for Pat's last scene. So well acted! Am absolutely glued to it now due to David Wicks's, Carol's and Derek's performances. The dramatic tension between them has been brilliantly acted. Lots of my friends have been saying the same thing!

  • Comment number 74.

@Hannah9008 - Alfie should be fed up with Kat! She's treated him so badly! Their story is so rubbish - Kat confesses to cheating and says he should divorce her and that she will do it again. He's hurt but he can't let her go because he loves her so much. He says that as long as sje doesn't tell him if she cheats again. She is happy and says that he really gets her. He says that she understands how much he loves her. Then, she tells some man that she wishes he wouldn't let her cheat on him, she wishes he'd get angry, do something. She believes that he does not love her. She tells Jean that he doesn't love her. How stupid is she? How stupid id the script? If he got angry and threw her out then she'd think he loves her and is hurt but she'd lose him. He'd divorce her. Now she's decided that he doesn't love her because he didn't throw her out and she'll lose him. So stupid. Kat needs therapy to get over what happened to her with her uncle. Ronnie had the same experience but she's not like Kat, not a cheat who can't keep her underwear on. Show Kat getting therapy then maybe she'll become more normal. Whitney is getting counselling so at least EE has that good thing.

  • Comment number 75.

So happy Chryed are back where they belong, together. Their hand hold at the end was a beautiful understated moment, JP & ME have amazing chemistry. I only wish Amira had left with her father, her return has been awful, she has become such an unsympathetic character. It's also great having David Wicks back, it's like he never left !

  • Comment number 76.

I hate that EE has made Amira such an unlikeable character - it's because they want us to love Chryed and if we started to sympathise with Amira then maybe some would start to hate Chryed. Please make Amira pleasant and then she can be friends with Chryed and even find love of her own.

What's happened with Denise? Everyone kept going on about what a strong woman she is, always bouncing back from her bad experiences. Now it seems that she's been badly affected all along and it's all come out now. She's comparing Lucas and Owen with Yusef but Yusef wasn't as evil with her as Owen (domestic violence) or Lucas (kidnapped her and hid her in the house next door and told everyone she's dead). Yusef used her but wasn't evil with her like the other two. I know Yusef was an evil character but not with her.

I think the script was silly when Afia found out that her dad had tried to kill Zainab and when she saw Denise in the street Denise bad mouthed him and said that she had the right to bad mouth him. In that case Peter Beal could have bad mouthed Whitney cos she was just using him, for a bit of fun. Also Whitney is using Fatboy really cos she loves Tyler (so obvious). EE scripts are so silly in this way - if a character is generally nice then other characters won't bad mouth them even if they have done something horrible to them, but if a character is evil then other characters will bad mouth them even if the person hasn't done anything so bad to them.

  • Comment number 77.

Yeah, am still tuning into EE in spite of a long absence. Am just loving the relationship development and tension between Carol, David and Derek. A lot of potential there for some tasty storylines. I get the feeling that there's really something genuine there between Carol and David. Great acting though Pat stole the show in the acting stakes in the last episodes. But I hear that David's leaving on Friday. Big mistake, EE, you should have held on to him for longer.
