Also, could you perhaps (given time) tell such unworthy disciples such as myself, exactly what it is that was so bad about the cinematography? There was nothing which screamed 'BAD' to me, which I consider a good thing - it didn't draw attention to itself - but is that what you think is bad? That it should from time to time draw attention to it self and say "How about them apples?!"

This movie, to my knowledge, has actually gained something of a cult following because of the fact that it's so bad it's good. I guess you could say the same thing of a lot of VanDamme's movies, i.e. "Time Cop" or "Street Fighter."
I'm actually due to see "Mamma Mia" in about two hours on your recommendation, Mr. Kermode, so it had better live up to the hype!

For my money, the film that's so bad it's brilliant is another Pierce Brosnan film - Dante's Peak. It contains that classic line: "Marion, she loved volcanoes."
Bliss.

Mark, I always enjoy listening to what you have to say and I trust your judgement so although I had already told my partner that I would rather eat my own leg than go to see 'Mamma Mia' I have changed my mind. I am going to see it tomorrow evening on the strength of your recommendation. I know it will be bad, I just hope it can also be good.
I have always thought Abba's songs were great so that's half the battle, but Pierce Brosnan singing?????

Pierce Brosnan obviously has a good sense of the absurd.

Interestingly (well, perhaps) produced by Roger Cormon who also produced La Planète Sauvage, amongst 300 other films. And what's more, it's a quadrilogy. Clearly I'm not the only fan either, as the user name Deathstalker was already taken.

What a fabulous film with great performances from all. I think credit is due to Pierce Brosnan as his awful singing voice truly made me realise why they put him in the James Bond franchise before switching to the musical genre
